I'm taking the time to revisit the list of webcomics I posted to this thread however many years ago and update links or write obituaries as required.
Again, I can't recommend all of these webcomics to everyone but there should be something here for everyone. If anyone wants particular recommendations PM me with genre and likes/dislikes and I'll get back to you. I'll avoid putting comparative reviews because that would be an apples/oranges situation but I'll put a few key words behind eack link. I've got more but these are the ones that I check regularly-ish. Some are Not Safe For Work (NSFW) and are marked as such. Read at work or in the presence of your significant other at your own risk. "Scenery pr0n" is not porn but refers to landscapes where more time and effort then necessary to establish the scene was used to make them beautiful, compelling, or fascinating, just in case anyone is not familiar with the term.
American Ghost Jack Link updated. See my previous post in this thread for a comprehensive review.
Annyseed fantasy, vampires, high school life, friendship; was no longer updating on my previous post, now is dead and gone
Ava's Demon fantasy, magic, SF, occasional horror, reincarnation, pacts, cute art, irregular updates and frequent hiatus
Bearmageddon No longer updating; horror, post-apocalypse, bears, irregular updates, from the creator of Axe Cop
Blade Bunny Long dead and gone comedy-adventure, fantasy, cheesecake; got off to a very tedious start but outlasted its own origin and started to develop its characters and own mythos in spite of itself. Might be archived somewhere, if I ever find it I'll post a link.
The Black Brick Road of Oz fantasy, adventure, cute art, occasional interactivity; appears dead.
Cleopatra in Space SF, adventure, time travel, cute art. Was once a partly-free-to-read webcomic but became successful, got a graphic novel release, then got a Dreamworks
animated series. I heard there was some drama but it sounds unimportant so I didn't bother learning the details.
The Cummoner NSFW, magic, fantasy, sex, sex humor; I've mostly lost interest in it since it stopped following the main character but it's still updating. Too much sex, not enough humor in the sex humor for my tastes but the fantasy aspects were sometimes interesting.
Devil Bear fantasy, cheesecake, comedy, occasional pop culture ref/joke; reduced to one panel updates on weekdays plus one page per week on the main story but it's still going. I've been following it sporadically because the premise has/had potential but the worldbuilding seems to have been done piecemeal on the go (which can be hit or miss).
Derelict SF, fantasy, post-apocalypse, scenery pr0n; dead as of 2021.
Dresden Kodak SF, fantasy, posthumanism, occasional action; irregular updates but still going.
Dynagirl superhero, action, middle-aged protagonist with kids; dead and gone.
Ensign Sue Must Die This one's a parody of self-insert fanfics set in the Star Trek universe(s). It concluded long ago and vanished from the internet but was reuploaded a few years ago. The crew of the reboot TOS Enterprise becomes aware that their new ensign, Mary Sue, is strangely over-competent in many obscure areas and despite wearing a red shirt, unkillable. It sometimes references slashfic for purposes of humor but is work-safe and has decent art.
Everblue fantasy, romance, scenery pr0n, mystery, cute art
Exposure action, cheesecake, upskirt, supernatural adventure; no longer updating but the creator is doing some kickstarters for new stuff (presumably in a similar vein).
Finder's Keepers fantasy, adventure; no longer updating.
Flaky Pastry fantasy, magic, comedy; on indefinite hiatus.
Frivolesque slice-of-life, light fantasy, cute art.
Gaia fantasy, some SF themes, adventure; concluded.
Giant Girl superhero, action, cheesecake, upskirt, dirty jokes, but work-safe... Or so it was, looks like Giant Girl is still in the archives but there's different webcomics under the "Giant Comics" label from time to time now. On further review I think what happened is they changed artists and are revisiting some previous stuff and redoing it. Not sure where they're going from here but my best guess is that they're eventually going to have new updates featuring both the old FL and a side-character (pixie from a fantasy realm) boosted into romantic-interest protagonist and they'll explore the modern superhero world together. Or something.
Girl Genius steampunk, fantasy, adventure; one of the best webcomics of all time imho. Check out Buck Godot (same artist/author) too. [edit] A number of things from the "Fun Extras" are now dead links. I think the newer stuff isn't in danger but OG Heterodyne Boys is broken image links and Buck Godot is gone. [/edit]
Goblins gaming fantasy, irregular updates. No longer my cup of tea.
The Golden-Haired Summoner magic, fantasy, occasional dark themes, adapted from a Korean webnovel; last I checked this one's on some sort of hiatus but given how popular it is I doubt it's dead. In fact I wouldn't be surprised if this one becomes an anime at some point. The link will take you to an aggregator site.
Grrl Power superhero, action, geek culture themes; meandering a little but still going.
Harpy Gee friendship, fantasy, magic, cute art; still going.
Iron Violet superhero, action, cute art; dead and gone.
Kill Six Billion Demons fantasy, action, martial arts and magic; still going strong.
Magellan superhero, action, slice of life; no longer updating.
Megatokyo fantasy/slice of life, geek culture; haven't been following it for a while but looks like it's on permanent hiatus until the occasional random update happens.
MS Paint Adventures eclectic, geek culture; concluded.
Overcast with a Chance of DOOM fantasy, light horror/gothy, slice of life; no longer updating. The artist still does pen and ink art on his patreon.
Oglaf NSFW, sex humor, fantasy, game themes. More humor than sex which I think is a plus.
Paradigm Shift action (police), fantasy (werewolves), no longer updating
Powerpuff Girls D superhero, action, cute art, irregular updates, a long-running "doujin" or fancomic not connected to the official franchise. Concluded. The author has a couple other webcomics that I haven't read much of but I will check them out and update this post at some point. Same art style, not sure if same universe as the original.
Quantum Vibe SF, adventure, drama; concluded and then
unconcluded. It updates Mondays.
Scary Go Round adventure, geek culture; no longer updating but the creator does other stuff from time to time.
Schlock Mercenary SF, action, adventure, comedy; concluded. Often witty, so-so art.
The Specialists superhero, action, social themes, historical fiction; forgot this one existed but it appears to still be going.
Shadowbinders was a mostly-light fantasy steampunk, switching between slice of life and darker themes. For a long time it was a free online webcomic but the
creators (a husband and wife team) ditched the project in favor of making podcasts on their site and on youtube. It seems there's going to be a relaunch of Shadowbinders but not as a free webcomic. Not sure I'd pay to read the redux; sounds like they're moving away from the themes I liked.
Sluggy Freelance fantasy, action, comedy, occasional gaming themes/pop culture parodies; still going and I check on it once in a while but I am no longer a regular reader. The story's been meandering for too long.
Snow by Night fantasy, myth, historical fiction. No longer updating. The creator currently has a virtual avatar/pet/gaming community thinger going.
Unsounded fantasy, magic, action, horror; still going strong. Interesting world-building, great character development for the most part, great art. Strong themes in this one may not appeal to everyone.
Weapon Brown parody of classic newspaper strip comics, post-apocalypse, action, dark humor, noir, sometimes NSFW, completed. The author/artist is something of a character himself; looks like he's currently doing some cheesecake nudes with food stuff... which appears to be exactly what it sounds like.
What Birds Know fantasy, mystery, slice of life; concluded and apparently gone.
