I think I know where the Seraphs got the etheric tags... Jenny made the tags! She's a witch! She's secretly working with the Seraphs! Jenny is fascinated with Zimmingham because, like the Seraphs, she either doesn't understand the risk or she thinks that they can handle the risk. She may have tags ready to put on Zimmy to bring her back under control. Why would Jenny work with the Seraphs? Maybe she wants some of Zimmy's reality warping abilities and the Seraphs offered the opportunity to see those abilities in action up close and on overload. Why isn't Jenny worried about being dumped in the sea after the Ship becomes flesh? Because she floats, she's a witch! Burn her... Hahahaha! Oh, wait... All joking aside, this is quite an interesting theory; We'll see! It's the sort of place a goth would like... until they find out that it isn't makeup and decorations. I must admit that I can totally identify with Jenny's initial reaction, even if she knows about Zimmingham. The real danger hasn't presented itself yet, so squeeing over the creepy landscape is still 100% valid. I'd prolly be all like "Oh my god it's like we're in a horror movie! . . . Oh my god it's like we're in a horror movie! " The faces really make this comment! So funny! Tho Jenny has yet to switch to the second face...

At the start of this chapter I was hoping Annie would make a new friend. I believe that Jenny is on Annie's side. Jenny seems to be her own person. After they leave Zimmingham everyone will change in some way.
Some people seem to wary of Jenny, maybe because of that boxbot connection.
As for the "my love" thing maybe its a replacement for "my pretty."

So is the lack of annie's facial scar significant? Well it just occurred to me: 1) Annie has been in Zimmingham twice 2) first time she had her scar the whole time 3) second time she did not, and she was Zimmy all along. But supposedly it is just the "price tag" inhibiting her abilities.

In seriousness, I wonder if some human at the Court might have been working with the Seraph robots to set this up, for his or her own agenda. As I've mentioned before, the robots seem surprisingly ignorant of the true nature of Zimmy's powers (surprisingly, in light of how otherwise well-informed they clearly are in setting this up; they know which students hve etheric abilities and what kind of abilities they are, how to suppress them, how to set up the siphons, that Zimmy needs to be separated from Gamma for her powers to manifest). What if someone was feeding them information but deliberately held back that piece of vital information about Zimmy? Someone who wanted this to happen for some dark ulterior motive? The robots may have been used.

I think if the Court were allowing this to happen, the Headmaster's daughter wouldn't be at ground zero. He may be sort of a cold fish but that seems a bit much.

He might think that having Janet not on board the cruise ship would make people suspicious - and that if he pulled her off, everyone else in the Court administration who had children in Year 9 would try to do the same. But, no, I don't think the Court really would go that far. As I said in another thread, it has its faults, but we shouldn't see it as something like N. I. C. E. from "That Hideous Strength". (Especially since the Court really is about science; N. I. C. E. only pretended to be as a way of duping the public into supporting it, and was really just about taking over the world.)
