Oh, yeah; something I totally didn't catch but should've. By convention and tradition in english, ships are referred to as female for the sake of pronouns, regardless of their name. However, this does not apply to all languages. This could be the biggest lesbian ship in history. Then again, robots appear to have masculine programming by default, with very few exceptions (none I can immediately recall). Whether or not robots perceive gender at all or perhaps belong to a 'third gender' however is up for questioning. The robots program themselves, and Diego probably copied himself in some way for the first generation of Court robots. Thus the "she died and we did nothing" bug and why they develop crushes on girls. So yeah, no lesbian.

Well guys, This just surprised me a "little", and then began to howl with laughter like a jackal just "slightly". (Fortunately, no one was around, and so i were not considered crazy.)
I'm curious what will come out of this.

That may be the pattern thus far, but if talking about a ship, you'd still have to use female pronouns, which could get pretty confusing/awkward. Plus, it would be kinda cute ... crap

Who called it? Who called it? no, wait. They didn't call it, Tom took the user's suggestion. XD Since Tom draws the pages about three months in advance, it has to be a coincidence (if one that's made the person who guessed it very happy). And I think that the Court (once this mess is over) is going to be extremely concerned about the way this robot religion has gone - all the more since it can't turn all the robots nto paper clips (and there's no telling how far the infection caused by Robot's preaching has spread). It mghit be tempted to turn Robot into paper clips again, but the damage has been done - and doing that to Robot would only create a martyr.

Seriously, if I was smiling any wider the top half of my head was gonna fall off!* *Yes, I borrowed that line from another webcomic.Dwell in the cookies, you've earned them. I mean, that it is the ship speaking was, after all, to be expected, your rationale to it was way sound and should have convinced anybody, but the part of being madly in love with Lindsey!!! I'm in awe!

Yeah, ri-i-ight. Who else sees at least 6 problems with this plan? Of course, now that her little hobby is out of the bottle, and those are Court students... maybe Kat will learn teamwork at last? Ship it is.Oh my... the one who called that ShipxLindsey ship is buried in cookies! Shipload of gunnercookies.

I'm really trying to figure out how this all ties back together, or even if it will. I mean... If this chapter ends with Zimmy and Jack fighting and indirectly teaching the robot cruise ship about the true meaning of love as well as making Annie feel self-conscious about her single status and possibly causing relationship problems for someone else, I might just have to declare this as the single best webcomic in the universe. Well it already was, but I'd have to do it again.

Poor Kat T_T
Ann has had a hard life but Kat has had to make some really tough choices. So far she's handled those choices flawlessly but man. I hope the court steps in, maybe Lindsey, somehow and takes the responsibility of the kids lives out of Kat's hands.
or atleast she is able to say noway hozay peacefully

So here are some extra questions beyond what the others have asked about Kat...
1) Did Lindsey have a hand in making the cruise ship? She certainly would have the requisite degrees and experience to do so. It makes me wonder if it is a good thing that the court robots fix/make themselves as they seem to get attached fairly easily to anyone seen to give them help.
2) Will Annie reveal to Lindsey what's going on Etherically? In Faraway Morning, we got to know that Annie knew about Bud and Lindsey's Etheric presence, though took some lengths to hide herself. Does she want to reveal herself at this point? How would Bud and Lindsey react?
3) What would happen to the burgeoning relationship between court and woods if Annie is harmed in anyway by the robots?

It seems like it's becoming an increasing problem that Diego seems to have passed his tendency for romantic infatuation onto his creations. Perhaps now it will finally be addressed on a larger scale.

buh but Lindsey's married! She won't like this. Not at all. That only makes it *unlikely* that she will respond well. What if her dance card isn't full? (I wonder if the ship realizes how small the males of Lindsey's species are? Would he woo her with a smaller, remotely controlled body?) I think that all depends on Lindsey's sexual preferences...

Does she want to reveal herself at this point? How would Bud and Lindsey react? Well, looking back at their personalities, I think it's plausible that: • Lidnsey would not have mind, and probably knew about Annie's abilities from the Court, anyway. • Bud's just a chill dude. • Annie may not have meant to eavesdrop on the two anyway, so she might just get sheepish and apologise and be forgiven for the mistake. Maybe get scolded a bit, but nothing dangerous.

Gill cleaning! So that's why one flesh limb would be the threshold for a robot's desire for flesh. It all falls into place. Now Kat needs to decide how many feelers and where to install to get the most hot action: port, starboard, bow, or underside. And if the "flesh" is hardwired or socketed. Bud may be in trouble, not sure he can compete in the size speed or endurance department with machine. Then again with their species they might have differing standards of fidelity... in other words, they might be just "ships" that pass in the night? Oh dear, I was thinking how Kat was supposed to replace most of the ship's hull with artificial flesh, but this makes more sense. Also, would probably leave even greater mark on Kat's psyche, having to to grow a gigantic artificial dong while all her classmates are watching / held hostages.

First, I rebring up my concern about how Lidnsey was ever planning on talking to the students. While Im sure she knows that Annie could probably speak to her using etheric means, how would she communicate to the rest of the students? It hardly seems fair to force Annie to be her proxy voice.
Also the size of those ocean swells are very concerning. Giant robot cruise ship or not, those are some dangerously large waves. One way or another, the boat will be rocking tonight.

Grow me an organic dildo this instant! I must tailor my chassis to suit the sexual proclivities of a giant sea scorpion!" Yeah, that'd bump the uh, rating of this comic well past PG-13. The ship ai has gone nuts.
Hopefully Annie warns Lindsey etherically, the kids shouldn't have to deal with this alone.

The PG rating can be salvaged with clever use of euphemisms and copious amounts of pixellation: GKC flesh.png (282.09 KB) ...And what do you mean by "dildo"? Of course it will would have all the necessary nervous receptors for mutual pleasure.

Between Paz's enthusiasm in the page you linked to and someone's earlier comment about how her pose in today's page echo's that of the sailor bot in front of her I am starting to wonder if the ship may have found a way to link with her. I think it is unlikely, but, well, anything is possible in the Gunnerverse and the ship will want some leverage over Kat. Ship's AI certainly does not seem to have the same reverence for Kat that those bots following Robot have developed.

No no, gill cleaning is more like a kiss (or foreplay at worst). I guess the closest we have to it is an Eskimo kiss. The Love Boat would not need a giant anything considering Bud's size, just privacy, so if anything the class would be issued seasickness pillz and sent below decks to ride things out with the portholes shut and the curtains closed. ...and apparently it likes what it sees. I missed that when I first read that comic. Yeah, ri-i-ight. Who else sees at least 6 problems with this plan? From the robot's/robots' point(s) of view? Its/their only worry is Zimmy and they probably don't know enough about her to be worried. In the short run the robots take rejection well. Why not equip the romance appendage and take a shot? You know, assuming the Love Boat gets shot down and if only Zimmy wasn't here to dork this up this up with a plot twist somehow... Well, remember how 20k Leagues under da Sea got started? That, except the "giant narwhale" is a frustrated cruise ship...

Given Paz's proclivity for animals (and the fact that she already knew about Lindsay's species), probably not? I mean, the ship already has Kat's entire class, including Paz and Annie, stranded in the middle of a roiling ocean. That's pretty good leverage right there.
