Ok, so the horse totally rocks. I want one. And the fact that Kat's barely acknowledging its awesomeness only makes it better.
yeah, so Ysengrin lied... raise your hand if you -didn't- see that coming.... That's what I thought.
It's interesting that they seem to be going back in time, in terms of transportation, these last few comics. We go from Mag-Lev to bikes to a horse and carriage.
*trundle*
Edit: wait... is the Reynardine?!?! Sweet! edit 2: Nope, I think that's just a crazy talking robot horse. Bummber

Wha... but... guh...
Holy carp. I thought the trip was getting ridiculous in the previous strips, but this...
This is so far beyond ridiculous that it warps time and space and becomes awesome again.
Tom, I salute you for pulling that off.
EDIT: War! There was a war and talking robot horses were involved! And from Robo-Ed's comments "and now all heaven" and "second omnipotence", it sound like gods were involved as well! Holy crap!

It must be that the Court is constantly built out from a core that was created ages ago. instead of tearing down older structures, they continue to expand outwards, with SCIENCE. Quite likely, the court overtook parts of the forest in this expansion, explaining why they are so hostile to the technological "infection" of the tic-toc.
That must be it! Its like a slightly less evil version of Clive Barker's Jericho!!
And a horse!

I am really hoping that they are on a monster truck in the next strip. It would make my day.

Well, there was a war, and there was a God involved, but that's just because the horse is quoting Paradise Lost. Which is a pretty cool thing for a robot horse to do regardless.

In panel two Red looks a lot like Reynardine in panel five on this page. I wonder if there in every chapter is some little detail that is duplicated from another page in the same chapter. Like the two 'BAP's in chapter 14 ( Parley BAP's Smith and Coyote BAP's Ysengrin). ...or maybe it's a concept Tom has started on recently.

What spooked me the most about the robot horse quoting from "Paradise Lost" was that, in my commentary on the preceding page, I'd quoted from "Paradise Lost" as well (when I mentioned that my original conception of Ysengrin was the same kind of blunt and direct military leader as Moloch in Book Two of Milton's poem).
Either the fairies' teachers (the ones who were supposed to teach the fairies proper English) aren't very good, or else Red was an inattentive student. Where's Henry Higgins when you need him?

*trundle* ;D Hee, 'talk proper', hee. I like to say that, but deliberately ironic. Sometimes it's even better though when people, like Red, say it and don't even realise. (I'm far too much of a language-geek at times). This page also has one of the best visual jokes ever, 'those old war horses never shut up'. Genius. Simply, genius. In fact this could possibly be one of my favourite pages, because the composition is awesome, with the rockiness like that of a carriage ... *trundle*

Why exactly a robot horse-drawn carriage? Surely a taxi would be more practical. (Not as awesome, of course.) Maybe the Court staff already had the robot horses, and if they didn't use the horses for something they'd just be going to waste. I like that Kat is allowed to drive the horse all by herself. EDIT: War! There was a war and talking robot horses were involved! And from Robo-Ed's comments "and now all heaven" and "second omnipotence", it sound like gods were involved as well! Holy crap! Note to self: Keep all exclamatory early-morning new-strip insights to myself, as they are invariably wrong.

I don't know if this is a wild speculation or not, but I thought I'd mention it here:
What if Annie and Kat are deliberately taking the long way to the barber's in order to have more time to talk to Red? It's obvious that the reason why she wants the haircut isn't because she needs one, but as a way of expressing her frustrations with her new life (she dislikes her new human body, attending school isn't as much fun as she thought it would be, Blue's drifted away from her, etc.). Annie and Kat might be intentionally delaying their progress in the hopes that, by the time they reach the barber's, Red will have realized that there are better ways of handling her problems than changing her hair-style.

Annie was the one who suggested that Red get a haircut in the first place.
I think it would be cooler if the hair salon was just that far away.

Weird coincidence time: today, November 8, is the anniversary of John Milton's death in 1674. It's probably just a coincidence, but I'd like to thank Tom for having yesterday's page make such perfect timing.

Maybe the Court staff already had the robot horses, and if they didn't use the horses for something they'd just be going to waste. Well, I think that the difference is that taxis are cars and cars generate a lot of Carbon Dioxide, so their usage is avoided. After all, there aren't many trees in the Court so I imagine they need all the oxygen they can get therefore using electric vehicles.
