Out of curiosity, has anyone thought of creating fan characters? I don't know if it's been tried, but I suspect that the reason it hasn't caught on is that no conceivable method of characterization can match the depth of character Tom already gives to his characters. Any entirely fan-made characters would likely be pale shadows in comparison to those of canon. That being said, you should give it a go! It would be interesting to see what you could create. On a tangent to this, there exists a lot of fanfic online (some NSFW, but usually really good) related to Gunnerkrigg, where people play with the characterization of the already-established roles. These are some of my favorites. |

I made a fan character named Coolbob, Coyote's brother. He looks just like Coyote except he's purple instead of black and has two tails instead of one. He's totes heroic and helps Annie and Kat solve mysteries and has a huge crush on Renard.

I love all of this new art. I need to catch up on it.. I wish we had a mini-forum, but at least it's hard to miss art as it's posted. Got the itch to sketch with Painter tonight, and doodled this. Inspired by that neat crown graphic that showed up a few pages ago when Annie faced WispWasp. Very rough, no details. Just playing with color.  |

Neat, fire! I like the palette brush sort of feel. I'm bored at work and all I have is a mouse and old-timey MS Paint. Here's 20 minutes' worth of goofing off for y'all:  I might come back to it later and add shading and such. Depends if I get any work to do. |

True, but for all of us who are OCD about having each entry marked as viewed (and no use of the 'Mark All Read' feature: cheating!), that would be a nightmare. Plus, we might miss recent updates because there would be too many threads to reasonably view. But yes, it would be cool. |

However, the one with flower-medium would work only if this was either - a fire-flower (insert the image of boiling lamp posts from Fire Spike) - a Black Dandelion (preferrably late-stage and still implanted, so it's obvious that's not a normal plant) - The Angry Flower Haha, Reynard's expression is hilarious ...
