If Kat doesn't want to be seen as a divine creature, she got to stop ordering around weird beings like this. =) I was personally mulling over the possibility that Kat etherically projected a more fearsome divine appearance and in doing so, intimidated the guy into leaving. I know it's unnecessary to establish, given Kat's existing bravery & stance on messing with her main babe, but the opportunity for Annie & Mort to respond to it is just too appealing to discard. Especially given the context that Annie & Mort see things differently here and haven't revealed to what extent their POVs differ from Kat's. Now I really want to know what the robed dude looks like to Annie and Mort... I want to know what Kat looks like to Robes guy. ^This right here^

I'd say "atta girl, sticken up for ya' main babe", but then wouldn't that be Paz now, or is Annie still #1 babe to Kat? But yea, go Kat, stick it to that meanie face. She's got this sorta inverted Mom threat, "Get out of your room and you are not allowed back in until you think about what you said."
Also on the Annie and Mort vision reveal, I'm leaning towards a Friday reveal, with a discussion on Wednesday and Kat asking (like in Divine) "What does he look like to you?"

Robe Guy (tm) certainly seems to think Kat is "someone not to be messed with."
Also, I am leaning towards there having been different robe guys in each room. If you look back at the previous pages in the other room robe guy had a round/pointy chin whereas this fellow's chin is blockier and squared off. Also, the other fellow looked younger to me.

LAUGHING ON LINE!! Kat's GET OUT pic. That is going to be my new favorite get out pic ever
that guy was probably just a spineless jerk,
I mean who talks down to 14 year old girls so srsly? the same person who gets told off by one
for the guys sake, I hope he is seeing Ann as some sort of fire elemental, and Kat as some sort of techno-angel. Maybe that's why he was taking it so srs (whishefftel or whatever)

Somebody's decided they order around the bureaucracy. Here's betting he'll just sulk by the door until they leave.
Interesting to note that Kat's treated with more respect than Annie; could it be *because* they don't recognize her junk, but know it's worth something?

I don't think that Kat is really getting more respect than Annie, but that the ROTD has a kinda strained relationship with the Guides, that having one going through their records and then not really knowing what she is doing is something that they look down on. I think he was just a bit scared of Kat in a she's being all bossy and yelling at me sort of way, not in a visually scary way. He didn't really seem scared at the end, just mopy that he is getting kicked out of his own room.

Nah, Paz will never supersede Annie. You see, girlfriends are but flitting leaves in the, uh, hurricane of... um... life? But main babes are forever. Like leaves in little glass boxes in museums.

Kat would have defended Annie even if Robe Guy was a weird and fearsome creature. Or at least have everyone leave that room since they can try to get better help elsewhere.

She should have at least bapped him in the groin first. Judging from the way he's sulking, he probably lives in his mothers basement.

I'm starting to think there might be some rivalry between the afterlife guides and the ROTD. Afterall, every spirit that gets (properly) taken into the ether doesn't get to become a ghost, probably, and vice versa. They are sort of competitors in the same field, like Microsoft vs. Apple.

I think it is pretty clear there is a rivalry and that the ROTD has some bitterness towards the guides. Both Skeleton admin dude and robe dude have made negative remarks about Annie being a guide. I am interested to see what happens next.

I'll guess Robe-Boy is just more comfortable dealing with centuries-old slime monsters and vampires than fourteen-year-old girls. Failing that, my second guess is that hidden in Kat's dialogue were the words "get out" which are very close to the magic ghost words "GET OUT." And when someone who's "junk" you don't know starts to lose it and say "GET OUT" in the RotD it's best to beat a hasty retreat else consequences might happen.

Centuries-old monsters might rip your arm off and throw it in a lake, but at least they're predictable. They won't touch your sense of self-worth or make you question who you are.

A few pages back, Robe Guy had no problem mouthing off to Kat ("You must really be the life of the party."), so I think it's just that he's not used to people standing up to him, not Kat presenting as her "angel" form (unless being angry changed her appearence and we find out that's what Annie and Mort are actually reacting to?)

Well, my 2¢ to the topic are that Donlan's short temper has got a lot of screentime recently, might be this may cause her some major negative consequences in future plots; even give potential as her to rise as a mojor antagonist against Annie/Forest/Court. Nah; this isn't short temper; this is her protecting her friend! This guy has made at least 2 snide/rude remarks to Annie, while she is clearly going through some serious emotional distress, no less. Any good friend would do the same! (Albeit in different ways)

At this point, I almost wonder if it will turn out that Annie and Mort are seeing the same thing Kat is, but they're just THAT easily impressed by cheap haunted houses.

I liked the half disbelieving "But it's myyyyyyyy roooooooooooom..." as he was banished from his own domain. And now I'm imagining that guy being played by Michael Cera. *hangs head and walks away sadly*

Annie has already mentioned seeing a huge library with thousands of books, so I don't think its that they are easily impressed by cheap decorations. I wanted to believe that, but I think that they really are seeing something else.

Welcome to the forums Sal and all other new people! At this point, I almost wonder if it will turn out that Annie and Mort are seeing the same thing Kat is, but they're just THAT easily impressed by cheap haunted houses. Well cheap haunted houses do occupy a special place in the imagination of fourteen-year-old girls around where I grew up... along with hay rides, crappy ferris wheels and the love tunnel (don't say it).

NOOOOOO!! In the words of C-3PO: We're doomed! To be fair, that comic (and set of comics by the same author) is actually pretty funny and clever (if extremely raunchy).

Random question: how do some of you mask your online presence? I was glancing at the member lists (working out how many Gunners are still active forum members; 30 out of 38, by the way) and I noticed that some of you ( imaginaryfriend, for instance) have your "last online" status much longer ago than your last post. How do you do that? Hope I'm not being too nosy... Also, does anyone know how many posts Tom actually has, since his postcount is artificial?
