My concern is whether they see this as a good thing (progressing to next stage of life/evolution)or a bad thing as Kat has created a way for them to die. Before they were essentially immortal.

It's also interesting that they don't consider Old Robot Geezer as having truly died. Hmmm...Robot's body is third generation (made by Kat), no? Also, I wonder where Shadow is...I would think he and Robot would be found in the same place. Perhaps Ronot considers only the things made by Kat (including himself, btw) to be real robots. Interesting dynamic if true.

Yeah and who knows, Kat might still be able to bring Old Robot back (though obviously it's not in anybody's interests). The damage done to this one looks to be beyond repair. Complete with blue smoke.

And every year, they will hang "muscle and bone structure" garments by their thermal units. Yea, verily. I'm really hoping Robot's zeal never exceeds his reasoning. Else, he may go Robot Santa on some people.

Sniff snorf...smells like chaos! My favorite smell... My plot of the robot cult continues apace. Soon, they will be offering sacrifices of blood and oil to their Machine Goddess...MUAHAHAH!!!

This is one brilliant update. A perfect gift.
I do hope Tom will, at a later stage in the comic, show us the ramifications of events in the robot religion history. I wonder if it will get distorted beyond all recognition like human religions invariably do, or stay exactly the same due to infallible digital memory of events.

So, that's the Thread the chapter title mentioned. The thread of life as spun by Moirai, and Kat is seen by the robots as Atropos, as the first one to cut that thread.

That sounds very likely to me, especially considering that in the long run, organic robots may have a much larger impact then Kat and Paz's relationship.

Huh. Talk about a serious mood whiplash. I wonder if Tom included this plotline in the same chapter just to remind the readers that GCK didn't in fact turn into a teen romance comic all of the sudden.
Anyway, I didn't even realise that the crisp on the platter was Kat's pseudo-organic wing until it was mentioned here in this thread. I wondered what Robot was talking about. I have to wonder how Kat will react when she finds out...

It feels like, with robot cults and friendship troubles and increasing tensions and memory theft and depressive introspection (complete with semi-premeditated murder), we have crossed a 'loss of innocence' line sometime in the last few months, with a corresponding change in tone.

The robots are certainly eloquent, aren't they? Not just Robot himself, either - at gunnerkrigg.com/?p=660 , Sky Watcher's monologue is very moving. It's strange to think that created beings could be able to communicate their thoughts so well. On a slightly unrelated note, Merry Christmas!

Happy holidays everyone. I do wonder, are the robots going to charge and take the forest in the name of their goddess? Take control of the court? Sacrifice humans? We shall see. Also, what a random mood change.

If Tom planned the start of the Robo religion on christmasday all along, he is an even greater genius then I thought.

The first of us to die a proper death... Does that mean that thing lived? S13 runs before the train. As usual.

The first of us to die a proper death... Does that mean that thing lived? Since this was the first robotic part to be grown rather than built, I would say yes. And clearly Robot and his disciples also think so. Also once the robot society discovered she was working on growing robots, that was when they marked her workshop with the sign of the creator. She can give life, and take it away. And now literally create robotic life. Yes, I say she is well on her way to a promotion from Angel to Goddess first class.

I like how in this Robot religion apparently the priests wear hoodies and not robes. I can totally see in the future Kat making a mecha-suit to fight off something big and bad, and the robots all freaking out over it...
... or worse Kat gets injured and loses limb(s) and replaces with her own robotic creations, Paz not liking the new Kat (or possibly Paz dieing from the confrontation that crippled Kat) spirals Kat into a depression where her only solace (since Annie is busy in the forest, etc.) is with her robot clergy and starts to actually believe she is a God, believing it is her duty to protect by controlling; thus completing a shift in morals and code becoming less happy-friendly and a truly dark antagonist that knows everything about the Main. I hope not, but Kat could be a huge contender for becoming a very powerful villain.

I mostly worry the robots might think Paz killed it :S In light of this comic, Kat's earlier reaction of "eh, it was worth it" seems callous and inappropriate.

Interesting and irrelevant: The burial ground is the same patch where Kat dug up the worm she tried to feed to Cityface, which in turn led to her visiting Paz's lab where she had the idea for the wing design.

Whuh? I was playing Bioshock and missed the update. Too bad, now it's gone and you may never see it again. Better luck next time. Be sure to read the comic the exact second it's online so that you're sure not to miss it.

It's also interesting that they don't consider Old Robot Geezer as having truly died. Hmmm...Robot's body is third generation (made by Kat), no? The old robots just have broken parts that could be repaired. Kat of course did exactly that for one of them, only to break him again by his request. She could choose to repair him again. You can't uncook flesh; the wing-thing is gone for good. That's real death. I mostly worry the robots might think Paz killed it :S In light of this comic, Kat's earlier reaction of "eh, it was worth it" seems callous and inappropriate. Kat does not know the full implications of what she is doing. Reminds me of Annie's blundering around with Coyote and Ysengrin.
