All I can think about is: either Kat is really tall or that door is really small. One thing: they should have an easy time climbing the tree, but the sugar rush afterward maybe not as affecting.

I neither believe nor hope this, but just for the calls, I call it now: they have a serious discussion, a little bit of tears, all dissolves in laughter and then they kiss. This goes deeply against the epic battle prophecy, so I'm against it, but just want to say "I told you so" if it happens. Ooooh, never think you are a KatxAnnie shipper I tried my best to say I am not. I'm a Kat v. Annie warshipper, if anything. And that's your answer to this: But what is the prophecy you're saying about? I'm in a really bad case of the missing out now. Edit: Also many thanks for pointing out things below. Sillyme feels pretty boxbot realizing it Read this thread. The prophecy is spoken there through the mouth of Daedalus, 'hoo, and myself.

All I can think about is: either Kat is really tall or that door is really small. If you look at this page, you can see that the door is pretty small; Annie is hunched over sitting on the floor, and she still comes almost halfway up it. That said, I'm pretty sure Kat "grew" a little bit from panel one to panel two in the current strip, even considering the slightly funny perspective angle of panel 1. That, or she got a little thinner.

Annie has basically never had anybody, except potentially in the forest, but even that seems improbable, because whenever she visits forest there's no a single sign she would be looking for someone she cares about more than the rest. There's nothing like she had some special relationship waiting there, which is something you'd expect if she had as much as been close to kiss a green elf boy when she was in the forest. She would be either cautious not to meet him (if that went badly) or look for him to meet him (if it went well). Yeah, that was something I hadn't thought of. The only reference she makes visiting the friends she made over the summer (that I remember) is at 1063. So I imagine she still visits them when she goes into the forest, it's just not something the comic dwells on. If she'd had some sort of really significant relationship with somebody though, positive or negative, I'd think there would have been hints, though it's possible Tom isn't showing any for the sake of not spoiling "Annie in the Forest".

I was mostly noticing that there seems to be an art discrepancy between the first panel and the rest of the panels. Also, where does your sig quote come from? Edit: never mind, found it!

It's gonna turn out that Annie's just annoyed that Kat's only pursued Paz after they started sharing a room, and she's afraid that she's going to have to listen to them making kissy-noises all the time. That's why she ran away: she was looking for earplugs.
Unfortunately there's no earplugs in the Court, and that's why she's upset.

I'm worried about whether this will affect Kat & Paz's relationship via Kat being guilty

Edit: never mind, found it! Yeah, I was mainly pointing to that page to illustrate their growth relative to the door. Might have been better if I had written a little more... The perspective in panel one seems weird, you're right. The quotes's from Angel, Season 5, episode "Underneath" if I remember correctly. Cracks me up every time I see it. It was just a completely random running gag in Buffy and Angel. New fav theory. Your avatar's empty. Why's your avatar empty?

...Now I have a Beatles' song stuck in my head. Yesterday... all my troubles seemed so far away... now I need a place to hiiide away, oh I believe, in yesterdaaaay... Annie's choice of words is interesting. "Not over something like this". They've used the cherry tree to resolve interpersonal conflicts before, perhaps? Wow, I never realized how well Beatles lyrics fit this comic! Waits at the window, wearing the face That she keeps in a jar by the door Who is it for?

I've thought of this possibility as well. I would love to read that part of the story, and there are very few hints of what happened there in the web comic.

I'm hoping, we're in for a frank and honest talk. Her best friend has had a deeply personal shift, that Annie probably doesn't even understand. It'll be interesting to see, how she finds the words.
Of course, next week could always be: Monday. Awkward silence and floor staring. Wednesday. They shift uncomfortably, trying not to look at each other. Friday. Annie finally says, "So..." Weekend.

If this was a more Grim-dark setting I'd be worried that this is the point where Kat and Annie's friendship begins to irrecoverably deteriorate and eventually leads to all out war between the court and the forest....but it isn't and so I don't (sorry, I've been stressed lately, there's stuff on my mind).
Just like I know that Annie finished her summer in the forest mostly alright, so I'm not agonizing over the cliffhanger from AitF. Still, does her behavior in that chapter seem particularly childish to anyone? Perhaps it just an example of how she was (hopefully) maturing, but it almost seems overdone. Oh well, can't wait for part 2.

"not over something like this"
Whether or not they've been back since, Annie probably feels like it's a safe place to work through stuff. After all, last time they did talk about Annie losing her mom. Kat dating is not a huge deal by comparison, which I imagine is why she didn't go in.
(sorry if this has been said I didn't read a lot of the last thread when most of the speculation about why she was there happened)

I think it's interesting that Annie said, "Not over something like this." It makes me think that either a) she doesn't think this problem should be enough to tread on such a precious place b) she thinks this problem is way too big to be resolved with eating cherries and crying a bit
But I'm glad Annie isn't just lashing out at Kat, and actually just feeling sad about it. Only three days until we see what Annie says. What really is going through her mind? "You were all I had left, and now you aren't. What do I do?"

I wonder if she's really upset, or just worried... Or is that the same thing? Like I get she would be worried over losing her friend, but would she be sad?

I wonder what Annie means when she says, "Not over something like this". Maybe it has to do with the symbolism people were speculating on yesterday (she feels sort of locked out of her relationship with Kat), but I'm not sure what the dialog is explicitly means.

Annie is jealous, that's all.
Of Kat.
Because Annie fancies Paz too.

I think the "not over something like this" bit may indicate that Annie recognizes that she should be happy for her friend and that the bad feelings she has are misplaced. That self-awareness, however, obviously does not stop those feelings from happening.

That self-awareness, however, obviously does not stop those feelings from happening. This follows my thinking as well, with the "bad thoughts" being not accessing Kat's homework insecurities about losing her friend. I mean, the only other long term "relationships" I've seen Annie have is with her Mum and (sort of) with Reynard, both of which feel more parental than anything (and one didn't end well). At least, I hope that this is the case. I cannot see this being due to Annie disliking the Paz-Kat relationship (I'd think that growing up in a hospital would mean that she'd have seen similar relationships, so it wouldn't be such a shock), but this could lead to 3 crying girls and 2 broken relationships.

Annie's pretty close to Ysengrin, too. I mean, he did try to kill her once or twice, but that's pretty much on par for her friends...

After Ysengrin, Sivo/Reynardine and Surma, Annie's just laying low. It's fun but sometimes the violent death gets a bit much and you have to think of the dry cleaning bills.

See now I changed my mind.
It almost seems to be homophobia, but not outright homophobia. It's not rooted in religious traditions, or "ew gross", but rather seems to just be based in ignorance about it.
It's a pretty safe bet that Annie doesn't have heaps of experience interacting with gay couples, so to her the idea that two women can be romantically involved is strange and foreign to her.
In that case, it may not take more than "I'm still your friend" and a brief explanation of Kat's feelings.
I'm just hoping that Annie keeps her mind open enough that she can try to accept or understand it. She's seen weirder anyway.
