So they've been standing out there, I'm guessing, for about a minute now. The Court's a pretty deserted place, but then again Kat's workshop tends to have some manner of robots milling around..where did the seraphs go? Are they just awkwardly staring in a doorway or something, beep-booping and looking confusedly at each other? "Hey guys, I'd like you to mee-" "Scarper, Montgomery!!" Just my luck that my wifi decides to commit suicide one minute before the update.  Worth noting? This is definitely going places. I read "wifi" as "wife" and was pretty worried for a moment. Not least of all by your questionable priorities.  |

Regarding the what year is it/how old are they discussion: We've only seen two summers (and thus two changes of dorms, from vertical bedroom thingies, to weird towers with bridges in a void, to the current underwater pod thingies) so it's safe to assume they're in their third year at Gunnerkrigg Court - since they started in Year 7, they are currently be in Year 9, making them 14 or 15. No birthdays have been shown or mentioned, to my knowledge, so unless Tom's stated characters' birthdays elsewhere it's impossible to tell whether they're 15 or still 14. Except Year 9 is 13/14, not 14/15. |

I grew up stateside, and was always one of the youngest my grade since my birthday is in late July, and our school cut off for the next year was October 1st. So for instance, I just turned 14 before freshman year (9th grade), and most of my friends in my class turned 15 during the year, and before me, thus making 9th grade 14/15. However, according to Wikipedia, the same is not true over in Jolly Ol' England, where year 9 is 13/14. |

I'm guessing "hala" is Galician slang for "bye" and probably also "hello". Based on similarity to Spanish "hola" for "hello" but the fact that the Galician direct translation is "ola".
Unfortunately, online dictionaries of Galician slang are so sparse (often completely empty) that the absence of an entry means nothing. So I'm left at guessing.

Paz has been so adorable in every page of this chapter! I love how Kat has been so clumsy trying to find out "how to be sure" and Paz has the answer in the best possible way. And now Kat has the confidence to be herself and not worry about it.  Bravo! |

Or a typo'd "haha." yeah, but Kat's been acting stupid just now, hence why the second meaning could also apply. but yeah, it could also just be a typo, or mean "bye" or something. Also, I just realised that this chapter isn't very long yet. So if more's gonna happen, I'm guessing it's probably someone standing there, seeing them. (well most people think that of course) And since it's already been stated multiple times in the chapter that Annie will arrive soon, it's probably gonna be her. |

God, I hope she just walks into the workshop while Kat is cleaning up the mess and casually asks "So, how did your date with Paz go?" or Renard just sniffing and grinning silently. |

That was several chapters ago now, Annie and Smitty were both wearing thick coats, so I'd guess Feb or March, I don't see any coats now so I assume spring has sprung and we must be well into April by now. |

True, true. I guess I assumed that Chapters 43 and 44 followed very soon after Chapter 42 using the PazKat relationship as a clock (not much changed=not much time passing) but I neglected that Chapters 44 and 45 could have a large gap between them (as Annie is back to the forest) |

I've always wondered about people who learn English as a second (or third or whatever) primary language.. Are they told to constantly apologize for it or something? 99% of the time it seems it's just about indistinct from (or even better than) everyone else's often lazily-written and slang-ridden posts Anyway, that makes sense. I don't recall that exact kind of thing, then again I guess American and European Spanish probably have the same amount of quirks and differences as English. Hah, yep. I'll make that word-bubble seam better... one of these days. Never would have noticed that..can't unsee  |

Cue cute and mischievous looking 'minding my own business' walk. Edit* The reason it is the "So there" version is that she already mentioned she had to get going 4 panels previous, its a malleable spanish interjection based on the context that just happened or is happening. Example: if she had said Hala after the smooch but before the "impressed" wordage, it would have meant "Wow!" if she was taking Kat with her it would've been "hurry up!," or "Come one!", and finally if it was due to being surprised or shocked it would mean "Hey!" or "Woah!" (think of Keanue Reeves going "Hala...") Source: Speaking Spanish entire life. |
