Well form 3/year 9 started when Kat Annie stayed in the forest all summer, and they moved into the underwater dorms here: www.gunnerkrigg.com/?p=844I kind of assumed they started a new year when Kat moved into Annie's room, but looking back at it it wasn't a new year, and they wore thick coats when going outside so was probably winter time. So year, must be nearing the end of the form 3/year 9 then. So only 13/14 years old then, younger than I thought! (edit: Kat didn't stay in the forest all summer, that was Annie. Would have made for a SLIGHTLY different story...)

Around two years, by my reckoning (Annie arrived halfway through form 1/year 7. They are now well into the second half of form 3/year 9). I think the first three book dealt with the first three school years (they end in the summer), and the fourth, which ended with "Changes" stopped somewhere half way through the school year, in the winter. That would make almost four years now. I disagree. Each volume ends at either the summer or winter breaks. So... Vol 1 ends with Annie farewelling Kat as she goes on holidays while Annie waits for news of her father. Vol. 2 starts in yr 8 dorms and ends with a small detour into yesteryear. Vol. 3 ends with Annie flaming out and going into the forest rather than with Kat on holiday Vol. 4 starts in yr 9 dorms w Lindsay and ends with a letter. Vol 5. will end... who knows?

Do you think Annie will come in at this moment and see them accidentally or is that a cliche? i presume Kat has not gotten around to telling her yet that she's dating someone. Also, how old is everyone at this point? 14? 15? All the female characters have subtly been getting a silhouette for a while now so I'm guessing early teen? Going from this page and the observation that we're somewhere late in their third year (Paz who grew up in Spain is wearing short sleeves, so it apparently is quite warm), they should be 14. BTW: Do we have precise birthdays for the characters?

From word of Tom, Annie and kat were 12 when they met. Year 1 (with the dorm that looked like a dorm) ended with Annie waiting for her father to call and kat and family went on holiday and wrote and sent postcards. Year 2 (with the dorm in a tree) ended with Annie going into the forest instead of going on holiday with kat and her family. This is partway through year 3, almost spring maybe? So they are both 14 going on 15.

It might get banned in Russia though :-( My thoughts too. I'm Russian, and it's exactly the right kind of thing to be ritually (sorry, "exemplarily") abused by the "law". Fits perfectly.

Feels like there's a summer holiday missing.

That never made sense to me either. That was right before the first summer holiday, and she spent the second one in the forest. Add a few months to that, and that call should have come about a year and a half after that voice over, tops.

If she's still in year 9 then they are 13 going on 14, although we must be nearing the end of the school year now, it's been a while. This means it's only been 2 and a bit years since we started, alot can happen in 2 years!

Laugh at Dr. Disaster's games all you want, but Kat does have better reaction now. Paz's face in second panel is great, she knows excaaaactly what she's doing And even manages to hold back "innocent whistling". Barely. awwww *giggle* and just then Annie barges in That's what I'm expecting. I hope Mr. Siddell is a little more clever than that, but it would still be amusing if that is actually what happens. Perhaps one or more of Kat's parents will enter the scene. Having very understanding parents dropping in can be very awkward, if handled right.

I somehow have always read it as "for another two years" but she doesn't say that. Well all right then. ^^

Regarding the what year is it/how old are they discussion: We've only seen two summers (and thus two changes of dorms, from vertical bedroom thingies, to weird towers with bridges in a void, to the current underwater pod thingies) so it's safe to assume they're in their third year at Gunnerkrigg Court - since they started in Year 7, they are currently be in Year 9, making them 14 or 15. No birthdays have been shown or mentioned, to my knowledge, so unless Tom's stated characters' birthdays elsewhere it's impossible to tell whether they're 15 or still 14.
Anyway, as someone who liked Paz back when she was just a Spanish girl who got scared by creepy clowns, I'm really enjoying this chapter! I do wonder how it's going to continue though - presumably Annie will turn up soon, and it'll be interesting to see how she reacts. I doubt she'll turn out to be homophobic though, because 1. Britain, and 2. One of her friends is a wolf god with a tree bod - homosexuality is mundane by comparison.
Also I just noticed that Tom puts shadows in the background, but not on the characters. I'm not sure whether it's a deliberate choice or a time-saving measure, but it does make the characters pop out, making them more prominent.

Just my luck that my wifi decides to commit suicide one minute before the update. Worth noting? This is definitely going places. I read "wifi" as "wife" and was pretty worried for a moment. Not least of all by your questionable priorities.

In the spirit of experimental repeatability...FOR SCIENCE. And this is adorable yet realistic. All of this chapter except CreeperKat is, actually.
