What's up with her fingers in the second to last panel? looks painful Ouch! Didn't notice first, but now that you said it - ouch! You have to have fingers that long to pick a nose that magnificent. ;-) But yeah, the first two digits on her left hand seem strangely long. I hope this is just a drawing error. Otherwise, I have to start considering that Kath is doing some weird experiments on herself and she's just showing an ex vivo example to Paz to break it to her easily, or she's turning into a whitelegs, or something else really strange.

Kat's inner monologue: That's it. Smooth and subtle. Wait! What goes with cynth-organic muscle structure, AC or DC? My first thought was, "If you run hook the bicep up to the output of a low-pass filter and the tricep to the output of a high-pass filter, this thing would twitch great to the drum beat of most any rock music! Quick distract her. "My next stage will be imitating human anatomy. I'd love to study, how your tendons connect to their skeletal system"... Nice save. Wow, that would be a horrible pick-up line, LAUGHING ON LINE! I sure hope Kat doesn't go there.

So, Kat is now a lesbian borderline-molester. ...Am I still reading Gunnerkrigg Court? The same comic I've discovered and loved years ago? Molester? She's just trying to be smooth and failing miserably. I think I may be the only one who read that last panel in Tim Curry's Voice from RHPS. I mean, Paz already came down to the lab, and saw what is on the slab...

I can't say that I'm terribly surprised. It's not like this is the first time that Kat has tried way too hard to please a love interest. Only this time she doesn't have Annie's expert advice to keep her from going overboard. It's hilarious how she jumps between her normal self and what she imagines to be her suave, gentlemanly persona. Here's for hoping that Paz at least figures out what Kat's trying to do before telling her to stop. She is going to tell her to stop, right? I think I may be the only one who read that last panel in Tim Curry's Voice from RHPS. I mean, Paz already came down to the lab, and saw what is on the slab... Can't unsee it! Gah!

..... O.o ....
I don't have the proper words to describe the conflicting emotions in me right now. Fear, Warm Fuzzies, Dread, Embarrassed, Twitchy anticipation.
This could be just a fun little, "PUSH the button Paz. See NEAT" Moment. or a horrible Shipwreck a veritable Katanic.
Perhaps even... (•_•). ( •_•)>⌐□-□. (⌐□_□ a KATastrophe and even a KATaclysm...

I see myself as a scientist, and I can't understand why Kat did that. Why would you spend weeks growing Bone and muscle to make a Robot when you could do the same job with aluminum Polymers and ceramic in a day.
I mean really this all seems a complete waste of time. why grow the parts individually then assemble them? Second It's living tissue, so it has to be nourished and cleansed of waste by-products So you need a circulatory system acting in line with a full life support system.
If she wanted to go the biological route why not become a geneticist? Learn how to program DNA from scratch, such that you could grow an animal or plant with any shape and features you could think of as being beneficial.
She Grew the Bone and Muscles? must have used a bio-scaffold of some kind. this came out from left field. this is such a plot hole.

Kat, an important detail:
When you tell someone "I could do with your... assistance" it's a good idea to have a response ready in case they ask "What do you want me to do?".

Been kinda bad with online sarcasm lately. This has been in the works for more than 500 pages. Probably incomplete chronology could be interesting anyway: 744: Her problem with conventional technology755: First idea for something "birdy"876: Thinking about interfaces877: Idea of growing a robot879: Her reasoning behind the bio approach1144: Recent status update (referencing bio-scaffolds)Who says this thing is fully biological anyway? It's friggin blue. I think I may be the only one who read that last panel in Tim Curry's Voice from RHPS. I mean, Paz already came down to the lab, and saw what is on the slab... "No, we're just doing reaction tests today" "just" "today"
Wonder how many times she's done this before. This is the first test we get to see (from what I recall) but maybe she's down to the point of perfecting the formula and this is (part of) the finished product. Might she have some sort of half-built prototype by now?

I see in your links she says bio-hybrid. so maybe it doesn't need a life support system but still weeks to grow such a small amount of mass? it seems very inefficient, even for a prototype. though bio reactors are horribly inefficient. given the right conditions crystals grow much faster than organics. It takes about 9 months for a fetus to grow to 8 pounds. www.commondreams.org/headlines06/0621-03.htma 1mm thick sheet takes a week to grow. so Kat's speed is quite faster than our world's bio reactors then again might be an effect of it being bio-hybrid

This is fiction and her invention is probably contributing to the plot, lets see where it goes. Only if it's not as and it doesn't to jack shit, then...
...I say we will be non-scientifically qualified non-scientists to determine whether this book written by a non-scientist is scientific or not.

Kat seems really frustrated with Paz in the 6th panel. What's up with that? Awww... Kat's really making an effort to be romantic. How will Paz be of assistance?

Paz you better make Kat get back to reality.
I'm really impressed that Kat is advancing on her plans to make a robot as sophisticated as Diego's.

Her current methods may have advantages in longevity, flexibility, or adaptability that outweigh the initial inefficiency. That's why certain lifeforms favor small number/long development cycles for their young.
