»I'd like to buy a cookie. No, hold on, I meant an Internet cookie.« — An Allegory of Human Desire I thought internet cookies were mini viruses that at first appear to be an add or something?

Cookies are things that tag along with your browser as you surf the internet. The reason you are able to stay logged in when you close this tab and come back is because of cookies. Some of them also record your browsing interests so they can direct advertising that might be more relevant to you.
Internet cookies are delicious phantasmal biscuits that are awarded to people who do something cool/funny.

...I must of mixed it up with something else... or my brain just made something up There was a very early prototype virus known as the Cookie Monster that would lock down computers and demand cookies. More than a nuisance than anything else, all you had to do was type "cookie" and it would unlock the system.
