The letter states that Kat hadn't seen a ghost before Mort, which is odd considering that her parents can do magic.

If you want to over-analyze the letter, it suggests that Gunnerkrigg isn't in Scotland but in a different part of the UK. But I'm probably reading too much into it.
I see that Kat's still interested in getting Annie and Mort together. (One of these days Annie's going to have to explain to the little guy that she likes him, yes, but as a friend. I hope he won't be too crushed by that, but at least he won't be able to die from a broken heart.)
Trust Kat, also, to have a few ideas about how to make a tank.
I have to admit that I wasn't expecting "documents" during these two weeks, but we certainly got a lot of information about Kat's summer holidays. (I wonder if Annie will write back.)

Is it normal to not see the full letter in detail, or is that just me? I stops right after ''If I made a tank''.

I really like the mental image of Kat driving a tank.

(I don't know if we'll see the other pages or not.) One thing I forgot to mention: it's poignant, seeing Kat expecting Anthony to show up, when we know that he isn't. I hope we get some glimpse as to how Annie will be spending the summer holidays, as well. She's obviously going to be staying at the Court the whole time, and I doubt that she'll have any big adventures (the evidence is that Chapter Fifteen will be the start of the new school year), but it'd be fun to learn what kinds of things she does in her free time.

I take it, the rest of the letter (one or two full pages) is concerning Kat's ideas of how to make at tank a lot smarter than they did it - finishing with: "Whops - rambled a bit there ;D Write soon. Love Kat"

I wonder if we'll get to see the letter that Kat'll be sending Annie from Italy. (Actually, it'll probably be a postcard instead, with both sides shown - the front being a picture of the Colosseum or the Leaning Tower of Pisa or some other famous Italian landmark, and the back being more of Kat's enthusiastic account of her summer holidays and all the things that she and her family are doing in Italy.)

If Kat's relatives in Scotland are all on her dad's side of the family, then Kat will probably be hanging out with her mom's side of the family in Italy.
I am also very interested in seeing Annie's reply.

I am also very interested in seeing Annie's reply. So am I, since it would be a great way of doing a "compare and contrast" between the two girls' characterizations. Annie's reply will probably be much more formal (though in a friendly manner), less exuberant. Kat's mention of Mort reminds me of another distinction between the two. Kat seems eager to set Annie and Mort up with a tone of "Wouldn't it be romantic?" Annie doesn't do any match-making between Kat and Aly, on the other hand; the two just naturally get attracted to each other, and when Annie starts assistinging Kat in that story (as in showing her that she doesn't need make-up, or getting her to go see Aly in the tower on Friday), it's simply because Kat's her friend and she wants to help her.

I don't really think Kat wants Annie and Mort to get together. It is just friendly teasing about an obvious crush. Haven't you ever done that? Especially when you were twelve? "He liiiiiiiiiiiiiiiikes youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu!"

"He liiiiiiiiiiiiiiiikes youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu!" Yes, that might be it (though I didn't do that when I was twelve - but then, I'm male).

I like the little winky face she drew upon talking about Mort.

One big advantage of a later page during this two-week period containing a reply from Annie to Kat's letter is that it would be a great way to fill in one blank that currently exists for her: her interests and pursuits in her "off-hours".
We know a lot about what Kat's interests are: she likes video games, popular movies and music, and tinkering about with technology (from building an anti-gravity-powered vehicle, to a means of allowing Shadow2 to talk - not to mention her own ideas on how to improve tank design). But what about Annie's? We know that she's almost completely ignorant of the pop culture things that Kat enjoys (and has probably been permanently scared off video games after seeing Kat playing "Grand Theft Auto"). We know that she's an accomplished linguist and knows a lot about world mythology (she obviously learned a lot about it from her mother and the Guides in the hospital, before she came to Gunnerkrigg - the Guides would *certainly* know a lot about it). But that's almost it. It would be great to find out a little more about this aspect of her.
