Opportunity in the Critical Eyeballs Dept: I’ve put together an integrated Help/About page for the three comic index pages, with the intent of removing most of the current header how-to help / information / progress notes from the index pages themselves to focus them on their search function. The draft help / about is at comicindexes. Feedback on content and ordering would be appreciated, and indeed whether I should split Help from About – in which case where to draw that line, too. N.B. formatting is, intentionally, basic as yet. |

FYI: The Gunnerkrigg Court Index stands at 1586 pages, 568 tags I’ve just updated the css (appearance) underpinnings of all three indexes. Upside: - They should behave a little nicer on phones, tablets and narrow window sizes.
- There’s a Help page now.
Down side: - The nice scroll-to-top widget is broken for now.
- I was quite happy with the behaviour on my tablet and phone anyway.
- I need to add some more navigation shortcuts yet.

Still tagging away… The Gunnerkrigg Court Index Page lists 1727 pages of the online comic with 677 people, places, things tagged for search/selection. I’m thinking about tagging and adding Traveller now it is on line, but the only common point with the rest of Gunnerkrigg Court seems to be Paz herself. Would perhaps just an entry in the index of Gunnerkrigg pages to say “Paz’ side story Traveller happens about now” be more appropriate? |

Yes, and maybe something about the recruiting of new pupils, of course the other famous example here. The book also suggests, I think, Traveler becomes a "legendary dog" connecting it with that bonus page. But I admit that's speculation. |

That bonus page is not "legendary dogs", it's "black dogs of the British Isles". Which are psychopomps. Traveler might meet Paz at the Rainbow Bridge but I don't think he'll qualify as a psychopomp and he's more associated (at this point) with northwestern Spain. |

Bump. louisxiv shouldn't page 1032 have a rats tag? Rats are only mentioned twice in the comic, on both occasions it is stated there are no rats in the Court. You do have the tag for page 198 |

keef , snipertom Oops. As you might have intuited, I don’t drop by here very often at present. Sorreee...!Re: RatsI tend to formally tag mostly what is shown on page, rather less what is mentioned. In the case of p198 that’s a chance occurrence in the page description rather than a clickable tag and, as snipertom says, it is not in mortal memory who added that. (Though, absent other claims, I suspect it was a later addition of mine. You could trace it back though the GitHub updates I suspect...) ANYWAY: I have added tag: rats to the index for these pages, as you flag it as worthy of attention, so it should appear at next update – but you may have to remind me if they come up again later...

Oops! 16 months went by in a flash... The Gunnerkrigg Index now lists 2527 pages and 1068 tags for people places and things and is updated every few days. (E&OE. Contents may settle in transportation, etc, etc.) You can seach for all the pages with a tagged thing or place or person, or indeed all the pages with the same number for the Cool things I only noticed on reread dissertation about “The Significance of Page 13 in Gunnerkrigg Court”… |

Hey louisxiv --first, I want to echo everyone's sentiments about how great of a resource this index is. What's your current policy on tagging a character when they are mentioned but don't appear? I ask because I was looking for this page, and I remembered that Annie says "Ysengrin explained what she [Jones] is," so I searched for Ysengrin + Jones--but it turns out neither of them is tagged on that page. Would it be worth adding those tags, or are character mentions too numerous to bother with? Thanks! |
