Damnit, Paz with her almost-perfect-but-still-ever-so-slighty-broken English is just about the cutest thing I've ever seen. I swear, if Kat turns her down, I will be so freaking sad I'm liable to just begin bawling along with Paz. Please, Kat, please don't do it. ;(

Kat freaks out, seduces Jack who has a thing for lesbians and they run away to the forest together! They bump into Kamlen and the remains of some Tic-Tocs and it is SUPER AWKWARD. Next, Kat bio-engineers an evil elf-bird-bot! Annie thinks this is super hilarious and runs towards the forest laughing maniacally, Smitty and Parley in tow. |

(though knowing Kat's awkwardness about this situation, her running off is pretty likely) Kat doesn't run off. Though scuttling away with "sorry! I forgot to turn off a microscope! Byebyebye!" is an option. Kat freaks out, seduces Jack who has a thing for lesbians and they run away to the forest together! Put me down for a noncommittal strategic withdrawal instead of an immediate rejection (or taking Paz up on it, I suppose); this is new information that’ll take some time to process.
What’s all this about the treatise implying that Kat and Annie get together? Seems pretty normal for close female friends to hold hands. Unless I’m missing something.

We know how Kat reacts. And we know how Paz in turn reacts on this. Back when Matt tried to turn down her advances in a gentle and less than decisive manner, Paz continued as long as she was able to remain oblivious, so pressurized awkwardness fermented until it spilled all around - some even got on Kat.  |

Looking back at the Faraway Morning, there's actually quite a lot of subtle framing between Kat and Paz.
While there's similarities with how Paz reacted to Matt, on this occasion she's thought things through.
So maybe Kat says 'But..I..don't like you very much.' and Paz replies with 'Phew! That's a relief!'*
*Such a classic put down from Jack! And he and Annie still seem to be on talking terms.

Oh a kiss is much to soon. If Kat does anything positive it'll be to continue starring with perhaps the odd glance to Paz and then back into space. All the while Paz will continue rambling. Then finally with her mind made up Kat will give that hand a small squeeze. Or something along those lines.

I think... Kat is going to rebuff Paz and become upset that Annie just views her as a friend. At least, that's my current theory to fit with the symbolism on the treatise.

It's such a touching page, but I have the looming sense of dread that it will not go the way Paz wants. I predict Kat will let her down gently.

I can't really see how either meaning can fall in line with her going out with Paz. Don't get me wrong - I want them to get together because Paz is adorable and Kat has been let down a lot by Annie lately and I think it would do Kat a ton of good to expand her social circle outside of 'Annie' and 'Annie's friends'. I'm just pointing out that the treatise doesn't give a good prognosis for any relationships in Kat's future. |

one doth wonder what The Butt Zone thinks about this. i have a feeling it's mostly raving insanity. They've been posting the strip with Paz's last, and rather disastrous attempt, at holding someone hand. A rather large number seem convinced this is where it goes down hill.
