Can I just say - called it. Well, the being asked to be forest medium part - I also predicted she'd be expelled. I'm wondering how Coyote is going to react (you know, beyond "oho!")... on one hand, he probably wanted Annie as medium seeing how sympathetic she was to him and the Forest - but then, this is also the kind of tricky twist I think he'd rather enjoy. New fan theory: Annie is expelled, then is "employed" by the Forest as THEIR medium. Also, I hope she accepts! Annie as forest medium would be awesome. (/potentially dangerous and difficult for her, but entertaining for us)

I told a friend that my stupid guess was that she'd be the forest medium. Figured I'd be proven wrong as I have so often before. WELP. Broken clocks and all that.
Though Tom's comment makes me wonder if Annie will accept. And did the headmaster do as he did, figuring Coyote would make the offer? Chess is not my strong suit.
EDIT: Just noticed the stars inside Coyote. Looks great!

I love the last panel! Leatherly bag of bones it's your move now. I know coyote is not to be trusted but neither is the court. I say Anne should go with this. Lets see what happens next.

I recall someone called this ages ago. Kudos to whoever that was... though whether she ACCEPTS is a different matter entirely. Given her recent Forest experiences...

I am killing myself with laughter and random gigglesnickering. Holy Butts, I thought this was too obvious a move for Tom to pull, and it's amazing. I love it.
This can only end in a spectacularly horrific fashion.

magical - who else to represent the Forest - she will have to live amongst the forested folks ... I think this is a very clever devious diabolical move on everyone's part. I notice Annie is already dressed the part. Nice khaki colours there - Very Yssengrin like ..

Oooooh! Now this is pretty interesting! I just hope she'll accept, more Gillitie is definitely a good thing if you ask me.

I absolutely did not expect this. This isn't in the headmaster's plans either. But he probably has no choice to allow it. His apparent disinterest in forest relations, suggests he wouldn't mind too much, provided Annie does well in her studies.

I just realized this: If Annie becomes the Forest's medium, Reynardine will probably come with her - back to the Forest.
Coyote is up to things, as usual.
The question is, would the Court allow that? Would Annie allow the Court to not allow it?

Coyote DOES say honorary citizen - he may not require she live there.

A) Such a beautiful last panel! B) Annie as the forests medium? I want to see this! But it's just... she's going to end up burning down the whole forest by accident isn't she?

I'm just worried about what this means for poor Ys, though! If Annie does accept, what will become of him? I'd hate to see him killed or kicked out of his tree body.

Coyote DOES say honorary citizen - he may not require she live there. That's right! It could probably mean that she can just come and go freely of her own will without asking permission from Coyote or the Court. Either way, she has somewhere to stay; her dorm and Kamlen's home. Is anyone else bugged how every time something happens with the forest, Kat is nowhere to be found? Annie has so far chosen either her father contacting her or the forest over being with Kat in some way and now it's be Kat's roommate or be potential resident of the forest. I hope with Reynardine by her side, she can make a more balanced decision. Because Kat being left alone with no chance to affect the course of Annie's actions in person makes me feel really terribly for her.

I also just had a thought - how is Ysengrin going to react to this? The human child unseating him from his position? We know the idea of humans thinking they are better than Coyote (and by extension, other forest dwellers/deities) is his trigger - and he's had all the guilt and memory of his previous attack wiped... so could it happen again?

First response to this page: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!
Second response: Hey, this means that Annie, eyebrows, and nose can probably hang out just about any time for no reason citing mediation. Or something like that.

Dun dun dun!
I guess I should have seen this coming. But, Ysengrin is/was Coyote's official ambassador to the Court? That seems a bit silly; Coyote has to keep a close watch on him to make sure he doesn't kill someone over some slight or other. Then again, Annie's had a violent outburst or two, as well...

If Annie becomes the Forest's medium, Reynardine will probably come with her - back to the Forest. That's why the Court can't agree on that appointment. This is not about Annie, Renard is the key chess piece here. Maybe Renard should start his own faction, and lure all beautiful girls from the other two to it. The Court, The Forest and The Chick Parlour.

Annie being the forest's medium would be great for the court, given her not being as unstable and willing to lie as Ysengrin, her friendship with many people from the court and the fact that the they would be able to control both mediums, even with Annie considering the court unable to control her actions. It's a good result for the court, with some risks, but still good.

I agree with punkt. If this is really happening, then the Headmaster basically just fooled Coyote into allowing both mediums to be from the Court. It's like convincing an enemy nation to use one of your own citizens as an ambassador. Even if it's your most philosophically neutral citizen, it's still your citizen.
Coyote might think he's made a good choice, due to her sympathetic personality and irreverence to authority, but the reality is he can't control her any more than the Court can. Meanwhile, the court has a medium who they can control, as well as lots of knowledge about Annie. Advantage: Court.

And don't forget the court puts stuff into their food, so they can easily track her and whatnot.

Anja, Donald, and Jimmy-Jims probably won't approve of this new development! They were as dead-set as everyone else that Annie would be the medium for the court. I don't know about how the Donlans will take it but Eglamore's gonna be maaaad. I see Jones offering to assist Annie and the others about mediation since they still are young. It's good, though! Everyone is already friends and if Annie accepts, it would make communication between each party simple. Violent firebursts or not, Annie has been and can be very level-headed, clever, and understanding. If she continued being guided properly, she could be a good medium and work well with Smits. Hopefully it won't strain their friendships, though.

I really hope she doesn't accept, actually. She's accepted all of Coyote's offers so far (that I can remember?). I would really like to see her reject him and stop playing into his hand.
If she doesn't accept, the Forest won't have a medium, unless Coyote backtracks and gives Ysengrin his position back.

THIS IS THE BEST THING EVER, OF COURSE SHE'LL ACCEPT
Edit: Of course it's a terrible idea; THAT'S WHAT MAKES IT SO GREAT
EditEdit: Interactions between Annie and ParSmitt will be pretty different now, I suspect, haha.
