Tea does not relish this script.

You know how Tea sometimes expands on a topic touched on in the strip? I think this is Tom poking fun at that.

That's weirdly meta for this comic, though it is amusing so hey, whatever. When was the last time Tea showed up?

That's weirdly meta for this comic, though it is amusing so hey, whatever. When was the last time Tea showed up? Tea last turned up in the comic at the start of the summer break at the end of year 2 (just after Annie 'spiked') However, she was glimpsed more recently in the banner a couple of months ago when Tom announced he was quitting work to concentrate on the comic (she wasn't looking too impressed!) What she's doing here with the heart monitor is... a mystery on a par with the rest of this chapter!

Never heard of one with a mute button though, just a sorta silent mode and a reset switch. Silent mode isn't total mute. It will still beep every so often so you know its on, working, and in use. Of course it will also begin beeping if heart activity gets too far out of normal ranges.

So I guess we're never gonna find out what is producing the electrical activity?

So I guess we're never gonna find out what is producing the electrical activity? Your heart. (assuming its just a normal heart rate monitor.)

I like how good an actress she is, going from 'slightly peeved' to 'enthusiastic demonstration' in a single panel.

I can't help but see the resemblance to last week's Abomindable CC strip - www.abominable.cc/2012/06/20/birthday-break/I'm sure it's just a coincidence, since Tom had completed this comic weeks ago, but it's still fun! It's funny to think about comic characters being actors with personalities and opinions beyond what's written in the script. I wonder what Annie's actor is really like? Man, Zimmy's actor should win a BAFTA award!

I guess that in the following story arc the heart monitor will play an absolutely vital role, and having it malfunction would be fatal for someone. Hey, Important!

Not mine, but i thought it was hilarious. Obligatory Ctrl+Alt+Del miscarriage riff. This wouldn't happen to have come from /co/, would it? I'm the only one who sees her uncanny resemblance to Jones, right? not one now... Also: Tea rules! Jones would not hold truck with a script, she would wing it, but in the end it would still sound like she was reading from a script.

At least some of them have mute buttons because they tend to go berserk if the leads come off (since to the machine that looks like the heart rate just flat-lined). I know in the E.R.s around here all the combo heart rate/blood pressure/blood oxygen monitors have them because they leave those on 24x7 and turn the sound on when necessary. (For lots of patients it's not, like someone in for a kidney stone say.)

It was nice to see Tea again. I like how the hospital background was pulled down.

I suppose it's also worth mentioning that that wasn't a real heart monitor we saw, it was a dream heart monitor in Kat's subconscious.

We can presume that she had a real heart monitor, too. Of course. However, Kat was already asleep when the scene started. That's why everyone was there but didn't react to Zimmy. Kat was dreaming them.

*sigh* I don't understand. Anyone know what the page is about? This is the same chick from all the other bonus pages where we learn little bits of trivia. This time though it seems to be a joke about how Tom never explains things(which is a common complaint when Zimmy shows up.)
