Early updateDo I feel frustrated about getting cut off before learning more about these new characters and Surma? No, because the interruption is freaking awesome.

rarrrrrrrrrrr....
Ok, well, this explains a LOT. Parley says that she and smith are- 'mediums', $5 on that. They state that that is what Annie's mum was, and so it's safe to say that Annie is as well. (Makes sense!)
That is why Parley and Smith are both here, and so is ANnie, but not Kat, even though it's REALLY strange for people of different years to meet each other.
At a geuss, Annie's mum was a very good spirit medium, and thats why Parley knows exactly who she is. But I agree that she doesn know Surma died.
The VNM appears to be much taller than Eglamore, make him VERY tall indeed. Eglamore looks good in a suit. No sign of the wolf, I think that if he was seriously important (reynardine's 'cousin') that he would have been at least SLIGHTLY portrayed in this comic.)

Tom's comment said "guests", not "guest". Who else but the TVNM is coming?

Well it makes sense Annie's mom was a medium and so is Annie. Talking to spirit guides and all that... even Mort mentioned Annie attracting spirits.

Well, this fills us in on Surma a little more.
Though (again), I think that the more likely reason why Annie's present is that her actions helped bring about this diplomatic crisis, rather than because of any unusual abilities she has.
The wolf-like creature accompanying the Very Nice Man might be present; the angle in the last panel is such that you wouldn't be able to see him.

I find it interesting that Annie could have defended herself, or asked why exactly her actions precipitated this meeting, but she instead chooses to ask how this complete stranger knows of her mum. Annie's prioritizing, and/or or she knows that there will be sufficient time for defense and exposition during the meeting.
Reynardine hasn't been shown yet either, but I'm guessing that he's in the bag, lying on the ground at Annie's feet.
Surma wasn't just a medium, she worked at Gunnerkrigg as a medium. Why wasn't Annie told this sooner? (Edit-) Perhaps the incident that left Surma bedridden occurred in the line of duty at GC? If that's the case, it would must have happened pretty soon after Annie's birth, or Annie would have memories of GC.
"Smitty".
An additional five says it won't happen this chapter.
I'm sure Kat would add that Eglamore looks good in anything.

Just something I noticed in the last panel...
Why is the VNM's left wooden arm shaking like that?

I don't really a spoiler here, just very legible speculation based on common sense and all that we've seen so far. And one thing comes to mind; how do we know that the VNM isn't, in fact, the cousin after all? We saw The Forest God and what people believe to be the Cousin standing side by side, which is sometimes how someone portrays multiple sides/forms of the same person. We really know extremely little about the nature of Reynardine, so who's to say? Besides The Creator of course. :3

Does that mean Zimmy is a medium as well? Since she could see the cut on Annie's cheek?
I don't think Parley and Smith are mediums, I think they're something else.

I'm sure Kat would add that Eglamore looks good in anything. He does, but I miss his turtle neck. Oh well. It's great, y'know. I went camping at the weekend and came back to potential answers ;D I should go camping more on that logic. I have to say I didn't expect Eglamore to be showing in the 'god', I thinking they'd meet up on the bridge, which is perhaps a bit silly. But then I was probably thinking along the lines of it being 'neutral' ground (though Annie clearly upset everyone by falling off the bridge).

Wasn't it her being on the Forest side of the gorge that upset them, rather than her falling?

Just something I noticed in the last panel... Why is the VNM's left wooden arm shaking like that? Ohooo, VERY good. I didn't notice that! Hm...puzzling. Ideas, anyone? Parley looks very indignant in panel 2. EDIT: Also; COOLEST CHARACTER EVER IS BACK! In my humble opinion, of course.

I announce spoiler warnings when I'm posting descriptions of what hapens in the comic before the main website updates, in case someone is browsing the forums isntead of refreshing Drunk Duck 5 times a minute. =P

I thought he was just swinging his arm. You know, like in walking. Doesn't strike me as odd at all. Parley looks very indignant in panel 2. Considering that Parley was nigh-yelling at Annie in the previous strip, I think it's a safe bet that she's still ticked off in this one.

Wasn't it her being on the Forest side of the gorge that upset them, rather than her falling? I think having the robot sent to the forest ticks them off more. At least according to Reynardine, and he can't lie to Annie. Interestingly, if I recall correctly only Reynardine and Annie know she was the one that sent Robot.
