Aha! I knew it! She will learn how to let her body do other things while she is in the ether! This has just gotten logarithmically cooler.
I am also pleased to know you don't need your mind to learn about difficult maths. I knew it was a conspiracy, the professors lied to me all those years ago.

Well what if she's still connected to her body? That gives her super long flamming hair of flashy red!

My they're a handsy bunch. I wonder why they all keep touching her. It's like they've never seen anything like her before.
Also, I'm loving Red's hair in this page. No wonder Blue likes it so much.

That's... an etheric cuddlepile? Oh, dear... ;D Also: busted! Snickering like that and breathing at the same time... becomes... difficult. I am also pleased to know you don't need your mind to learn about difficult maths. I knew it was a conspiracy, the professors lied to me all those years ago. Of course. They tricked you into learning advanced physics and you still think it's only math. Them professors can be sneaky like this.

Well considering Annie's heritage they probably haven't. I mean I assume fire elemental hybrids are rather rare given the, er... rather difficult aspect of "first union", as Coyote put it. How many people can there be who would attempt to bone fire? On an unrelated note, I think we need a tangential storyline following Annie's distant human ancestor. I bet he was a pretty interesting guy.

My they're a handsy bunch. I wonder why they all keep touching her. It's like they've never seen anything like her before. When projecting, you're shaped differently, you can bend your body around and resize and reshape yourself, you can put your senses anywhere you want, you might have an aura or a body that extends significantly outside your physical body (Coyote and Ysengrin), and so on. I'd imagine that the idea of "personal space" becomes rather different; they're just being friendly.

I wonder if Shadow 2 can look in the ether. (That was badly worded, I know.) He might feel rather out of place if not.

Well what if she's still connected to her body? That gives her super long flamming hair of flashy red! But... Annie can't participate in the circle dance like this. They cheered too early. Is that one of the tomato-wangers? I still think it's both - the purple girl has the same cheeks glow and the green girl has the same wild lock (see the previous page). On an unrelated note, I think we need a tangential storyline following Annie's distant human ancestor. I bet he was a pretty interesting guy. I'll keep referring to them as "Anselmus and Serpentina" until any evidence to the contrary. I wonder if Shadow 2 can look in the ether. (That was badly worded, I know.) He might feel rather out of place if not. I mostly expect him to look like a human boy this way. Only with glass eyes. After all, sometimes Antimony is really... not in hurry to try something obvious.

She's using a blinker stone?! SCANDALOUS!
I wonder if this chapter is when Annie finally takes off the "training wheels."

I wonder if she's going to try this technique next. Given the size of the silhouette that might get awkward in a small classroom.

She's using a blinker stone?! SCANDALOUS! Indeed! It's like they just called Annie a noob to her face! ;D Also, Red is the true Fire Head Girl as of today! I mean, just look at her!

I am expecting a scene where the Foleys suggesting them cut the bond to her body, and Annie asking if it would hurt to which they'd answer "Of course not", mirroring Red's reaction in the hair clipping chapter.

But then the third panel guy touching Annie creeps me out a little - he's like the awkward guy that doesn't let go when he shakes hands.

She's using a blinker stone?! SCANDALOUS! I wonder if this chapter is when Annie finally takes off the "training wheels." My thought exactly. In their eyes, Annie's trying to join the break dance team while riding an electric wheelchair that they don't see the need for. Either they see her as cheating or crippled. Doing without the blinkerstone is the lesson Jones wants Annie to learn. But then the third panel guy touching Annie creeps me out a little - he's like the awkward guy that doesn't let go when he shakes hands. They're fairies. Human etiquette doesn't remotely apply. I am expecting a scene where the Foleys suggesting them cut the bond to her body.... An inauspicious name. All I can think of is urinary catheters.

I am also pleased to know you don't need your mind to learn about difficult maths. I knew it was a conspiracy, the professors lied to me all those years ago. While I wholeheartedly agree with the sentiment, I don't believe the expression is quite correct. You see, logarithmic functions (such as y = log(x), shown below) typically have the following form: With the horizontal (x) axis taken to be time and the vertical (y) axis taken to be amount of coolness, a logarithmic function would imply that the coollness is increasing almost infinitesimally slowly as time advances. I would therefore consider the exponential function to be a better fit, perhaps with a graph such as y = e^x: As you can see, this function represents an almost vertical increase in in coolness with respect to time (a sentiment with which I'm inclined to agree when it comes to GKC). I would therefore suggest that exponential coolness is a far more apt descriptor for this plot line than logarithmic coollness. ;D

She's using a blinker stone?! SCANDALOUS! Aaaaa! Human infiltration! Hide the four-leaf clover! I wonder if this chapter is when Annie finally takes off the "training wheels." But the question is, are they shocked because she uses it or because she have it at all? There's some weird lore about it, and those traditions, after all. I wonder if she's going to try this technique next. Given the size of the silhouette that might get awkward in a small classroom. I'm not sure that variant can talk normally, by the look of it. Then gain, maybe it's not a problem where it goes. Doing without the blinkerstone is the lesson Jones wants Annie to learn. Hmm... Maybe. She certainly is sneaky like that.

I guess it just looks strange to me, almost like their petting her or playing with her hands the way some people do with babies. Also, after looking at her hair again, I think Red may have gone super Saiyan.

Quick observation: It seems that all of the other Foley students' eyes are gray, but Annie's eyes still look normal. It's hard to tell, but in panel two I think that I can see a little of the normal blue color. What could the significance be? Tom never does stuff like this without a reason. I bet it has something to do with Annie's intermediary nature - humans can't go into the forest without turning into animals first, fairies have a hard time in the aether at court, but Annie is just herself anywhere she goes.
Other quick thing: Has anyone thought of the movements of Foley students (and maybe some other people) from forest to court and court to forest as a metaphor for reincarnation? Take Kat's love interest from many chapters ago, for example. His parents wanted to go into the forest to be birds - who's to say that they're not originally from the forest and turned into humans, and now want to go back again? Maybe a lot of people and creatures from the forest and the Court are just ping-ponging back and forth between the two areas over lifetimes. [/wild speculation]

In the first two panels, the touching just seems like a friendly greeting. But then the third panel guy touching Annie creeps me out a little - he's like the awkward guy that doesn't let go when he shakes hands. Judging by his other arm, it looks to me like he's just into her. He's more forward than many human guys would be, but Foley culture is, as we know, a little weird. Doing without the blinkerstone is the lesson Jones wants Annie to learn. Jones doesn't necessarily have a master plan behind everything. She just noticed that Annie knew somebody in the class, and thought that letting her join the lesson would be a valuable experience for her. Possibly if the situation with Shadow didn't arise, she might have let Annie join a lesson later in her education. Annie does wanna be independent of the stone, judging by how she bragged to Jack about almost not needing it. She doesn't need judgmental Foley kids to tell her to. They might help her though.

What could the significance be? Tom never does stuff like this without a reason. Well, people were speculating based on the fact that Annie's hair didn't have a colour aura in the last page, and yet it does in this one.

Well, they're fairies. Of course they're judgmental, going by what we've seen. Helping Annie is exactly what I expect them to do, although that "help" may well take the form of emotional cattle prods. We'll see.

I think mostly, they are judgmental because they're kids, or worse, teens. Aha! I knew it! She will learn how to let her body do other things while she is in the ether! This has just gotten logarithmically cooler. I am also pleased to know you don't need your mind to learn about difficult maths. I knew it was a conspiracy, the professors lied to me all those years ago. Well of course! Your brain does complex calculations ALL THE TIME without you knowing it! I doesn't need to be taught jack! Learning how to output that consciously is another matter entirely... The brain doesn't do complex equations. It just does a lot of fuzzy weighted addition. At least according to the simplest models.

Calling it now, Annie will learn to fully separate her mind from her body, which will become immediately useful against Jeanne (with Parley helping of course).
