I love Red's expression while using a laptop. Also the paper streamers that look like the spirity things in the forest. I'm tempted to make some and hang them in my office.
So apparently Foley is separated from the main Court by a good train ride?

I double down on my old wildspec that the streamer things are warding and warning charms.

So, haircuts are a bizarre otherworldly concept to her, but laptops are okay?

So, haircuts are a bizarre otherworldly concept to her, but laptops are okay? It has been a year, I think she'll be getting the hang of some things now. Plus, with the Court favoring technology, I imagine that things like computers are something they teach early (just like trains!) What I need to know is, is it deliberate or an oversight that Jones has no pupils in the 7th frame?

I like Tom's comment. In my head it reads: "You can NEVER fool Jones, 60% of the time."

I double down on my old wildspec that the streamer things are warding and warning charms. My Wildspec was tribal banner style thngs. Yours kinda makes more sense.

What I need to know is, is it deliberate or an oversight that Jones has no pupils in the 7th frame? That always happens in the artstyle of this comic when a character is out of focus. There are many characters in the previous chapter alone who appear the same way. What I want to know, anyone else thought that Annie had an uncharacteristic and fun expression in the second panel?

What I want to know, anyone else thought that Annie had an uncharacteristic and fun expression in the second panel? It looks like her features and profile have been drawn to different perspectives, so that her chin looks like it slid way down to her neck. Yeah, pretty weird. Also, roomful of fairies could be interesting.

"You can NEVER fool Jones, 60% of the time." Love Annie's smile on the second panel. And how Jones knows a lot more than she shows. And I can't tell if Red looks focused or just in over her head, but she looks really cute.

Even in the haircut story, she knew about trains that used magnetic levitation (cutting-edge technology even in our world, much more so than laptops), but she didn't know the word for "chair".
Because the teachers remembered to teach them about technology, but neglected to teach them about chairs and haircuts.

Speculation: Annie is "reading" the streamers as she's walking down the corridor, and that's why she's smiling. For instance, one might say roughly "All teachers are crumbums who know diddly."

So that's how the Court pacifies forest folk - by introducing them to the internet! How cunning. Maybe when Jeanne is freed, they can just set up public access terminals every ten feet along the ravine, forming an impenetrable wall of lolcats.

Of course, the real question I would ask is WHY or HOW she has perceived his presence. I guess it's a benefit of being able to warp reality.

Shadow was openly waving at Robot from the train while Jones and Annie were watching him, so I'm thinking that Robot's attempts to hide were pretty doomed from the start!
I'm pretty keen to see what one of Foley's lessons involves...

Maybe Foley kids get to choose their new names, and Red is searching for a one on the computer.

Why not? Also, it looks like Red has at least partially gotten the hang of technology. She had no problems with a bicycle and maglev back then. What I want to know, anyone else thought that Annie had an uncharacteristic and fun expression in the second panel? Looks like these things improved her mood a lot... Summer break nostalgy? Speculation: Annie is "reading" the streamers as she's walking down the corridor, and that's why she's smiling. Either that, or she just remembered a magical trick with these things so hilarious she can't suppress the trollface. So that's how the Court pacifies forest folk - by introducing them to the internet! Hey, it's even on the Evil Overlord's list! they can just set up public access terminals every ten feet along the ravine, forming an impenetrable wall of lolcats. Thank you so very much. I managed to escape forming "Zimmy vs. Ceiling Cat" mental image completely only via displacing it with the image of disgruntled Ysengrin walking into the hall while carrying a lolcat by the scruff of its neck.

I kinda figured Chester and Foley would be under stricter security. Jack remarked that information about students from those houses was blocked off.

I'm guessing the streamers are there to ground stray etheric charges. In case a student gets riled or has poor control of their powers, the streamers will absorb the energy.

I love the little detail that the streamers are taped to the ceiling.

I kinda figured Chester and Foley would be under stricter security. Jack remarked that information about students from those houses was blocked off. Probably the most popular current theory is that he was looking for information that does not exist - so naturally the computers refused to show it to him, and he reached a reasonable but incorrect conclusion.

Remember those streamers were in the forest as well? I'm pretty sure they're just there to make the students feel more at home.

Remember those streamers were in the forest as well? I'm pretty sure they're just there to make the students feel more at home. Well, of course. Living in a place without proper colored bands is like never having your hair go up again. So Foley students do it in the first five minutes after being introduced to the magic of duck tape. The interesting part is why Annie looks at them... like this.
