What? Almost midday in the UK and no thread! Poor Kat, she's gunna miss out on the excitement, and plot progression! Ooh, new characters! Parley and Smith, teachers or at least staff in someway. Parley made me wonder if s/he teaches languages, from the French parler, to speak (made famous by that film Pirates). Also, who are the usual gang? Excitement! I wonder if we'll find out who the other girl in the photo is? ( From here.) Plus Reynardine and Eglamore, in the same chapter! Brilliant!

I love Jim and Anja's emphatic "No". It's funny, and it also explains the look he was giving Annie before: he's wishing that she weren't caught up in this.
I'm also very interested in meeting "the usual people".

Of course, it's always possible that Kat's going to eavesdrop on the meeting anyway, a la Sam at the Council of Elrond.
I'm not surprised that they want Reynardine present. At this point, Mrs. Donlan and Eglamore are (so far as we know) only aware of Annie running out onto the bridge in Chapter Seven and the events that followed it, one of which was the possessed Robot trying to assassinate Reynardine. (The real issues that prompted the forest-folk to call for this meeting, I suspect, are Robot going out into Gillitie Wood in the first place and Annie taking Shadow2 home with her, but Anja and James don't seem to have learned about these events yet.) So it seems reasonable that they'd consider Reynardine involved in all of this (even if they don't know about his cousin).

I don't remember which thread. I wonder if Eglamore somewhere between panel four and panel seven regrets being a bit too harsh to the girls, since his last line is quite a bit more polite than both the one to Annie in panel two and to Kat in panel four.

Mm ,bet Dr Disaster is one of them, I think his psycho weird guy stuff is jsut a facade. I think that Eglamore wouldn't be letting Annie come either except that they need her to come, since the meeting is probably about her. It's probably not a very safe place to go.
um, nop threads becasuse I'm playing Deadline roulette. I did make the deadline for a really giant project last night though, so WHEW!

Ahh, that's the only way I get essays (and general stuff) done. Wasn't a criticism, just surprise I hadn't thought about Dr. Disaster, but yes, that would make sense--and be pretty cool.

Could Parley and Smith be the two in [193]? They seem to be the come-and-go types.
Or maybe the "haven't left yet" is in reference to their leaving to go on vacation...
Also, maybe we'll finally get to see the Dean. <_<

I was thinking they might be Alistair's parents.

Wouldn't Alistair's parents share his surname? (Not to mention that they're now birds living in Gillitie Wood, rather than school personnel.)
I think that it makes far better sense that Parley and Smith are just a couple of teachers or staff members whom we haven't met yet.

Maybe Anja's line in panel five is implying that Parley and Smith aren't part of the usual gang. Maybe they tend to come and go, or maybe they're being invited because some of the usual people have already left for the summer. Perhaps Mr. Clayton, the mythology teacher, will be present? I base this speculation solely on the fact that when Annie and Kat brought Basil to class, Tom showed the other students staring slack-jawed at the minotaur, but didn't show the teacher. If Mr. Clayton already knew about Basil, who knows what other info he's privy to. Maybe Basil's last name is Parley or Smith. And if Dr. Disaster shows up at the meeting, that would make an already-awesome chapter too awesome for human consumption. EDIT: We can probably rule out Mr. Brass Buttons from ch 1. If he knew about Gillitie Wood and the Glass-Eyed Men, he would have believed Annie when she tried to tell him about Shadow2.

It seems strange to me that Anja and James would call fellow teachers by their surnames, but I suppose if neither are close to the two, it would make sense... Also, the coolness of the name Glass-Eyed Men just sunk in. That is an awesome description.
