On 2 July 2010 preus started the The Word Count Awards. But preus has stopped updating the topic. I took over and continued counting, making the awards and updated the topic.
And here is a new topic, one where I can update the first post and continue counting!

How about "Modest Manikin", "Flamboyant Figurine" and "Splendiferous Statuette"?

The "Flamboyant Figurine" and "Splendiferous Statuette" sound good.
But "Splendiferous Statuette" sounds to important. The next award after 10000 is 20000 (and 50000) and I know already that Annie (and maybe Kat) will reach the 20000. And I really have no idea which color this one is going to be...

The three-part statuette scheme (maybe with bronze-silver-gold colours, although you'd have to edit the current "modest" ones) would last you to 20,000, then if another one is needed we could probably think of something.

I had the same idea. After the 20000 I will make full-body statuette's. I will rename the statuette's from now, the name bust or sculpture is a little bit more fitting.

He's at 388. The closest to 500 is Mort with a sad 499.

I'm going to take a guess that Annie makes 10,000, Red makes 1,000 and both Shadow 2 and Blue make 500 on this chapter. Could even be the 2,000 up for Jones.

Well, that was chapter 36. Finally, didn't want to do it because of the huge number of unnamed new characters. And each one of the characters could grow to someone important. Chapter 37 will be easier, only a few character who will be talking.

But now the important news: Annie got her second bust. And Wandering Eye got her third medal. My prediction is no new prizes in chapter 38...but we will see!

When I read "The Bedazzling Bust," I immediately imagine a pair of breasts wearing a sparkling, glittery brassiere. Hehehe. However, I know you're talking about the other definition of "bust," a sculpture of a person from their head to chest.

Why not change it to The Iridescent Idol? An example of an idol is the Golden Calf Idol.

However, idols typically are displayed as a cult image. They're usually meant for religious practice/worship and not necessarily given or made as an award or a trophy.

Ysengrin, is certainly next. Chap 37 is about Annie and Donald but they have both way too many words to go (Annie nearly 5000 for her third statue). Chap 38 is about Kat, Annie and Zeta, and there are no big areas of text. Chap 39 is about Ysengrin, Coyote and Annie.
Ysengrin needs only 15 words for his first medal. Thus it will take a while for the next prize. And yes, I'm way too far behind with counting.

I was thinking of reviving them but I can't see that happening on my part anytime soon. However I did put together a google spreadsheet for counting words per character per page. If anyone wants to procrastinate by counting words (while conveniently rereading the comic) here's the link: link
I'd check in from time to time to keep it in order. However, this would be counting from scratch since I don't have the numbers of the previous word counters.
