Ouch I half expected the kiss was gonna come up again at the end here, but I didn't think it'd come up and then be shot down so directly On the other hand it seems like Jack actually has given this a degree of thought and knows kissing her would only complicate things, and is making the right choice not to

Annie, you played yourself right out of that one. Let that be a lesson to you.
Meanwhile, Jack is awesome.

Excuse me if im wrong, but i don't see the anything like that in todays page Yes, sorry. I forget we have international readers, I should have explained a bit further. Basically what I'm trying to say is that when people are presented with something that they've wanted, they generally lose interest. And on the flip side, when they can't have something, then they really, REALLY want it. I've also noticed that men like to assign this trait to women in relationships and love life. As a woman, I am loathe to admit it, but I see truth in it.

Annie didn't know what she wanted till she couldn't have it. That's pretty typical human behavior. I concur, though, that Annie's going about it in a typically girly way.

Annie tugging on Jack's sleeve. I'm going to cherish that for a long time.

Ouch, denied[/color]. Smart move by Jack, though. Kissing her would just make things really complicated.

This has got to be one of the most meaningful strips of the whole series for me, just amazing.
It's very subtle, the look on his face, the way she tugs his sleeve but there are actors and directors who are being paid millions of dollars who couldn't match the charisma of this scene drawn by a dude in his spare time.

Awww, despite all she wen through in Fire Spike, this is somehow the most sorry I've felt for Annie.
I wonder how many pages this will be the longest chapter by.

I am going to guess there's only one or two pages left, but Tom always surprises. Annie could flip a shit again.

I really admire Annie's character on this page. For sure she knows Jack has his heart set on someone else already. Putting her heart out on the line KNOWING she's gonna get shot down. That takes.... what's a good word here?

That Annie she got balls.

Tiene cojones?
I didn't read it that way, but I guess that's a more positive way to take this. I just read it as her being petty, wanting what she can't have.

But Jack is the kinda person that fights control and manipulation. He's not the kinda person that's gonna go all jelly knees just because a pretty girl bats eyelashes at him. Annie knows this better than anyone. But she goes for it anyways. The best that she knows how.

It's not petty to want what you can't have. It's natural.
It is, however, petty to then go and kill the opposition. At least, outside a duel.

Maybe if you start looking like this again, AnnieEDIT: Seriously, though, I gotta echo the appreciation for both characters. Annie for going ahead and trying even though she probably knows she won't succeed. And Jack for not taking advantage and gently turning her down. Also:

Good job, Jack. Don't kiss a girl right after you confess your love for another to her.
Sorry, Carver. The Jannie shippers feel the same way.
'cept they're a little more vocal about it.
