Ohhhhh poor blinker stone. I hope she gets it back. It does seem that it does a lot more than just make fire (i'd always hoped so)
Hmmmm, so, a signal from the forest, a signal from the court... Maybe a request for a meeting?

bzzz....-pop!- I want a blinker stone.
A meeting would be logical, because we know the god from the forest is coming. Therefore it's highly unlikely that it will be a normal meeting. Maybe the god and Eglamore will joust*?!
*This is the first time in my life I have had the opportunity to use the verb 'joust'. My day is good.

Clearly, Anja is just another word for awesome. Awesomer still, if there's some exposition in our heroines' immediate future.

I also wondered whether the blinker stone will be permanently used up to make the reply signal, or not. I suppose that we'll find out in time, though.
This narrows down the possible significance of the glowing green sign in the sky, though. We now know that it's a means of initiating communications between someone in the forest and Mrs. Donlan. The big question is who sent it, though: the god emerging from Gillitie Wood (who presumably did so in order to speak to her), or someone else living in the forest, who wants to warn her that the god's heading out from the woods?
We'll probably find out in another couple of instalments.

Jeeze...Anja's so hawt. That hair...and those sleeves...
But anyway, she doesn't seem all too worried about any of this. She seems relatively calm despite the situation's relative unexpectedness and our previous information about the woods. So either it's a symbol for a peaceful meeting or a signal from a friend or ally...Or something else entirely.

It does seem that it does a lot more than just make fire (i'd always hoped so) It was able to generate fire without consuming itself, so Annie probably will get it back... assuming one of our heroines can catch it. Jeeze...Anja's so hawt. That hair...and those sleeves... Agreed one hundred percent. I also love the way she flings magic about so nonchalantly.

b*This is the first time in my life I have had the opportunity to use the verb 'joust'. My day is good. Obviously you don't hang out in the same circles I do. ;D But yes, Anja = awesome. I'm going to have to use that now...."Wow, that's so Anja!" Blinker stones seem to do all sorts of thigs, eh? Or was it Anja's magic that did it, and the stone was just the carrier?

Ooh, good call, starburst! Now, we know that mercury is Reynardine's symbol; and I think that proves some alliance between Rey and the Forest (Rey's cousin?). Or something. Hmm, did anyone figure out what bismuth stands for? It appears in several places all over the Court, including over the entrance, and my guess is it's fairly important.

The Alchemy thread peoples. It's all (or mostly) in there. Or in Wild speculation or something, but yeah, the references to alchemy and the like have pretty much been discussed to death already. Sorry to ruin your fun though, Antimony is indeed connected to the wolf, and Surma is another word for antimony, and also the kind of eye-makeup Annie uses, and lots of other stuff I can't posibly remember. Anyhooooow, this seems interesting. Probably has as much to do with Anja as the stone, you'd probably have to know how to activate it or something. My bet is it'll hang in the sky for some time, before it hovers nicely back to Anja's hand. On a side note I agree completely with what has been said about Anja earlier in this thread. I mean... damn. Someday, Donald will die a mysterious death, and when she needs a shoulder to cry on, I'll be there. I'll be waiting.

Clearly, Anja is just another word for awesome. Hahaha I like this post. Haha, so totally, and so totally agree! I love Anja in the second panel especially! <3 I spotted the bismuth--it seems to be a symbol associated with GC, I mean it's everywhere, even on Robot's CPU--but I can't really see the mercury symbol; it's only half of it, sort of ... And would the folks from GW really want to be contrained by something as abhorrent as technology, old tech in alchemy but still a kind of technology, going on what Reynardine said. Ugh. Horrible long sentences; sorry for the bad grammar, folks

I wonder if the forest signal was made with a green blinker stone, or if there are multiple ways of doing it?

I guess there is more ways to make floaty sky things. Blinker stones seam to be kind of "casual" things, that can do all kinds of practical daily life things, so if a FST can be made with a BS, there'd probably also be other ways to do it.
(hmm, that argument seamed more convincing, when it was just inside my head)

Anja's rapidly swinging the chain in the third panel. She also did that when, back in Of New and Old, she had to bind Reynardine. I wonder why? Perhaps it's her way of generating magic?
Incidentally, I wonder why it's called a blinker stone?

Incidentally, I wonder why it's called a blinker stone? I'm guessing it's called a blinker stone because it can emit light from itself, or because it makes allusion to a car's blinker lights, which turn on and off by themselves (well, electricity for the car's blinker lights and magic for the blinker stone). Then again, I'm just speculating. Anja= pure coolness. She's becoming one of my new favorite characters.

Looking back at the comic in question, all she we saw her do was clench her fist (though I'm sure there was a mental component of the binding magic). I would guess the swinging in the current comic is just for flinging the stone to a sufficient height. Like a sling.
