Gods can be young too.
...of course, I am using Anansi Boys as a basis for that argument, so don't mind me...

Hey hey now! Anything Gaiman is obviously canon for all universes.
Okay, maybe my love affair with darling Neil is a little out of hand for this one. Disregard that...
I had forgotten that Robot's arm was grown with a seed. Hmm, well, at least we established the inspiration for Robot's wooden arm. The wolf at the VNM's back for some reason makes me think of Odin's wolves, Geri and Freki. If the wolf is Reynardine's cousin, doesn't that make a pair of wolves for a god?

Does that make TVNM Odin?

Except that he apparently has two eyes, which rules Odin out. (Though it would have an interesting link to my "weird speculation" of Annie being part Valkyrie.)

Hmm... maybe the wolf is the god and Reynardine's cousin? Then Reynardine would be a god too... its possible, anyway. I thought Reynardine was a demon? A demon god, then, if there's such a thing.

Well, not necessarily any present we know, although it's similar enough. It doesn't seem to be set in any pre-norse-mythology times at any rate.

Hmm, I really don't think that the wolf creature is in any way Reynardine's cousinn. Notice the VNM's eyes, for instance... Glowy and creepy, kind of like Reynardine's when he first tries to posess Annie. Also, the wolfi s too far in the shadows and not at all prominent enough, AND, when Robot has that arm, Reynardine complains about his cousin, but the VNM gave robot the arm, not some random wolf creature.

rc5, about halfway down the comments on the front page, Tom said: ...this comic does not follow real life time. The fact that it is summer in the comic right now is coincidence. Ah, thanks =)

*jumps onto the "I love Neil" bandwagon, albeit a little late*
Aspen, Rey complains about his cousin when they're talking about the Wood in general, not really robot's arm...or at least, that's how I read it. It seems more likely his cousin would be in charge of the Wood, somehow, or at least high-ranking in whatever heirarchy it might have. But considering the fact that Rey (and possibly his cousin as well) can steal bodies, we sould never be going on appearances, here, as easy as that is in a beautisul strip such as this.

As for his cousin being a high-ranking woodsperson, yeah, thats exactly what I mean... The wolf we see int his pone is shadowy, posed behind the VNM, and not at all detailed. He's really almost portrayed as a shadow. This seems to be 'my fool cousin's retaliation' that Rey was talking about, and since the VNM (we all agree that that IS the VNM, right?) is in the forfront, clearly detailed, and in charge, that makes the most sense.

Hm. Unless he's a shadowy mastermind, sending out his toughs...which, I would think, might be more of Rey's style, and maybe his family's style. I guess it would depend on how angry Rey was, though. If he was pissed he'd definitely be out there, growling and bristling and arching his little back...
Aww....*hides from Rey*

What're those three lines next to said VNM? Light shining through parts in the trees? Blades floating alongside him? Stink lines from the Stained-Glass-Eyed Dog's rear?
Is that a large pouch on the back of the VNM or a guitar (or other stringed instrument?
Why is the VNM's cloak a very close shade of green to Eglamore's dragon slaying sarong and scarf?
