Well.
Ok, I suppose that the NOM coming from the Woods wasn't that unexpected. Annie calling him a god slightly more so.
Maybe that little wolf we see is from the front page, but I doubt it. Reynardine said that his brother/cousin? lived in the woods... I think thats the NOM. Thus, it would make sense for reynardine to hide his eyes so his cousing couldnt posess HIM.
That would be bad, right?

This chapter is already shaping up to be epic. 2 things I noticed:
* Annie doesn't look happy. * Holy carp the VNM's arms! !!!

This seems promising. I wonder what people will do for the holidays.

Annie's wondering what she's gunner do for the summer holidays, that's all.
Geddit!? "Gunner" sounds like "gonna", and, I, uhh . . . oh, forget it. Philistines.

...I had to laugh. Just... "We'll come to the latter in a moment." Your phrasing and timing, Tom. oh god, it amazes me. Its cool that he's got wooden arms. I wonder, is all of him wooden? Did he give robot one of HIS arms?

But that would mean he started out with three arms. Oooh ... maybe they grow back? Making him indestructible? I simply adore the colours. The sky's purple!

Didn't who ever gave robot the wooden arm use a seed to do so ? So he wouldn't have given him one of his own arms.
I'm also wondering why the lantarn in the last panel isn't burning.

I'm also wondering why the lantarn in the last panel isn't burning. It must be daytime. Judging by the purplish sky, it might be sunset, but still light enough not to have the lamps on.

I'm not surprised that Annie is the one kid in the group who's not taking a "School's out! Yay!" attitude. Aside from that very serious disposition of hers, the summer holidays raise one interesting problem for her: where does she go now? Her mother's dead, and Anthony's presumably still missing. So far as we know, she has no family to go home to. (Maybe the Donlans will let her stay with them. Or maybe she'll roam the deserted hallways of the school by herself. Well, we'll probably learn more in the next few instalments.)
I wonder which one of those two figures creeping out of the forest is the god that Annie's talking about: the Very Nice Man, or the dog-like creature accompanying him. (We'll probably find out the answer to that one eventually as well.)

This could be the Very Nice Man's brother. Or father. With Tom, you never know what twists the story will make.

By the way, does the forum agree that the wolf-like creature is Reynardine's cousin? It looks a lot like the shape Reynardine took when he attackes Annie.

This is shaping up to be extremely awesome, without a doubt. By the way, does the forum agree that the wolf-like creature is Reynardine's cousin? It looks a lot like the shape Reynardine took when he attackes Annie. If it's the same creature we saw in the previous page, I doubt it. That wolf looked solid, while Raynardine's natural form is non-corporeal I believe.

I also like Margo's cameo, and the fact that Janet's checkin' out Winsbury. (If I recall correctly, every time that Winsbury and Janet have shared a panel since "Cupid Undone", one or both of them is stealing a glance at the other.)
It's nice to see that the sky over the Court isn't always cloudy and gray.
EDIT: typos.

One other thing that I forgot to mention about Annie being the one kid not jubilant over "school's out for summer" - whenever we see the children in a class, Annie's consistently the only one paying close attention to what the teacher is saying. Everyone else, even Kat, is usually fast asleep (as in the mythology class in Chapter Two) or looking distracted (as in the geology class in Chapter Ten).

At first, when I saw the God's arm, I thought they were pure flesh with veins sticking out, which kinda made me a little unconfortable...good thing I came to the forums to read that they are actually wooden arms, not flesh.
Something tells me that this God is looking for something that belongs to him, and he wants to get it back. By that I mean the wooden arm that he planted on robot (if he planted, that is) a few chapters back, which now lies in that beautiful room/meadow in the Court...I just hope that if that's the case that nothing bad will happen to that room. That was one of my favorite chapters.

What's a NOM?

I was going to ask the very same thing.
I really think that the fox-like creature behind the "god" guy isn't the same one on the first page. That one looked far more wolf-like. And I think that it is, indeed, Reynardine's cousin. No one ever said that the energy/light form is his natural/original one. He may have just learned how to "jump" from his body at some point.

OH MY GOD.
This page is, without a doubt, the MOST AWESOMELY METAL PAGE I HAVE EVER SEEN.
I am in awe. SO COOL!
I'm pumped. And NOM is "Nice Old Man" I think. When did we decide he was old? Robot never said that.

No, I think that the VNM is Reynardine's cousin. x.x
I think he wolf is just a wolf- Remember that Reynardine wasnt ALWAYS a wolf, he's a creature that can take many forms.

When Reynardine left Sivo's body in his attempt to take over Annie, his non-physical form had a wolf-like appearance even before entering the toy. I'm just as interested in seeing Annie's reaction to the end of the school year as I am in finding out about this god. I agree 100% percent with todd about Annie wondering where she'll go during the summer. There's also the possibility that Annie's focus on schoolwork was a way of dealing with her grief: so what happens when school lets out for three months? Also, I'm definitely seeing some parallels to chapter 7. Both chapters had someone mysterious emerging from the woods, and both had some sort of teaser (two pages or so in ch7, one rockin' panel here). So based on past experience, it's a safe prediction that something bad will happen to Annie, the chapter will end on a cliffhanger, and this will be the last chapter of Book 2.

Did you time this with when school actually goes out on purpose, or is it a major coincidence?
Hmm... maybe the wolf is the god and Reynardine's cousin? Then Reynardine would be a god too... its possible, anyway.

rc5, about halfway down the comments on the front page, Tom said: ...this comic does not follow real life time. The fact that it is summer in the comic right now is coincidence.

If he's a god, he's probably VERY old, so it does make sense.
