Hm, Ancient Greek for 3 and 7 are "treis" and "hepta", respectively; Gamma and Zeta are the 3rd and 7th letter of the Greek alphabet and thus were used as the Greek *digits* for 3 and 7 before the introduction of Indian numerals.
Gamma and Zeta are from Phoenician "gaml" and "zai", meaning "camel" and "weapon", respectively, as the letters of the Phoenician alphabet, on which the Greek alphabet is based, had meaningful names.

Diego (Didacus): "teaching" Diego is the Spanish translation for the name James...which would make a lot more sense with Diego's character. He supplants the truth with his own distortion of it, he tries to supplant Greenie's role in Jeanne's life, and ultimately, he sacrifices Jeanne "for the good of all" when it seems that any one would have done for said needed sacrifice and thus supplanting Jeanne's very life with the desires of the court to be protected from the "Scary" coyote. Wonder if they would have been able to find volunteers, and how differently things would have turned out then. |
