Oh exploitable...  Could have been young marines, but most of those were about killing stuff and bashing the Army. The Marines are just mad because deep down in their hearts, they will always be navy personnel. Any time you hear a Marine talk trash about the good ol' green machine just remind them that they are a squid. When you've finished picking your teeth up off the ground, you'll have the satisfaction of knowing you got one up on him.  |

Maybe it was just at that certain camp (Wente yay), sounds like the sort of thing they would come up with. Or just Boy Scouts in general. I dunno, it's been years. Also, UD to the rescue! I've done and heard a lot of yelling over the years, but I have never heard anything like that in my Scouting experience (including summer camps in three western states, the 2010 Jamboree, 2012 NOAC, and two trips to Philmont). You were going to an odd camp. Also, quinkgirl: Kudos on going into Sea Scouts. That's a really cool, unique program that you should get a lot out of if you take it seriously. Strangely, I've never lived in the US, never been in scouts or guides, and yet I am aware of this 'you say holler I say back' business? Somehow? I'm pretty sure that's what the 'hollaback' in hollaback girl is a reference to |

I liked Scouts, but mostly because they let us camp, fish, and shoot. I always showed up for outings but once Boy Scouts started and everybody was obsessing about merit badges and deadlines it gradually wore me down until I was bored of it. By the time I got to First Class I decided I wanted to quit. Three of my friends ended up getting Eagle, and I was kind of kicking myself, but then again... not really. Announcements, Announcements, Announcements! What a horrible way to die, what a horrible way to die, what a horrible way to be talked to death, what a horrible way to die! I must belatedly commend you on your recollection of that song. The local Cub camp uses that, so I know it well. |
