Well. Go Aly. He just became my favorite male character in the series. By a LOT! I wonder, is this like superhuman speed or does it just seem like that? I'm going for just 'crazy fast'. What do y'all think? Poor Annie... She looks a little better than Kat & Wllie, but only just. Edit: Cleared it up a bit and used Tom's title for the strip.

Not bad for someone who wears gloves indoors...
I don't think it's just 'crazy-fast'. His jump is abnormal too. At least now I understand why the basket was drawn so incredibly high.
My money is on aly-werewolf. Maybe he'll be good friends with Reynardine by the end of this chapter.

Right, I'm with the robot theorists. That hoop is about thirty feet off the ground.

What kind of demon games director would put a basketball hoop so high? Mr. Eglamore is evil, based soley on that impossible basketball hoop!

Okay, still trying to link this in with Sacrifice. Umm . . . Flame Minions can speed themselves up . . .
Soo, with that paralell, he'd be a student that Elgamore allowed the robots to 'upgrade' . . . though that doesn't explain the umpteen layers of clothes . . . maybe he only functions under warm conditions? Beats me . . .

You've got to admit, as schoolboy revenge goes, it's a lot more civilized than punching Winsbury in the nose.
But this definitely adds a whole new angle to the mystery that is Alistair. Now we're going to need to figure out what superhuman skill at basketball has to do with wearing increasing layers of clothing.

I suspect Annie's a lot less suprised than she seems, I mean she wasn't one bit suprised with the minotaur, or Morty, or really any of the wierd things that are going on.

I think I shall join the camp of people who believe Aly's changing physically. Maybe he's slowly changing into Michael Jordan? Obviously when the transformation is complete he won't have to be attending school anymore, seeing as he'd be a fully adult 2m tall basketball player. Anyhow, from the looks of it it's not just superhuman speed... it's supernatural speed. I get the idea the whole scene happened in about a second or so (perhaps excluding that jump) In related news, that's one weird-ass pose Aly's in while slam dunking.

I doubt that he's a robot, simply because the chapter immediately preceding this one featured them. More likely either his unusual traits come from a fantasy-based source (as per the werewolf theory) or he's been experimented on by a mad scientist (probably not Dr. Disaster - he's more a Quatermass than a Moreau or a Jekyll).

I don't like this were wolf story, but yeah, I'm kinda agreeing on the supernatural speed vs just really fast.

What kind of demon games director would put a basketball hoop so high? Mr. Eglamore is evil, based soley on that impossible basketball hoop! In some gyms there are extra hoops that can be lowered so that a lot of people can practice of skirmish, and raised again when there's a full court game (or for doing things other than basketball). It almost looks like that, except i don't see any lower hoops. (yeah, i know someone's throwing a ball at the high hoop in the previous panel, but people do that ) Oh, and umm, wow.

Aly's outfit matches the colour scheme of DC's golden age Flash, all he needs is a steel helmet with wings. Perhaps the layers of clothing are to protect him from air friction, or conversly from wind chill. But to go with the changeling thing, wasn't Teenwolf really good at basketball?

If you look closely at the slam dunk panel, you can see Aly's wrists between the gloves and his sleeve-ends, and they look normal. So the sudden shift in clothes probably has some other reason than hiding a bodily metamorphosis.
I hope that Tom doesn't skip ahead to Thursday in the next instalment; we've got to see the immediate aftermath of Aly's feat. Not just the other kids continuing to gape about it and wondering "How did he do that?", but I'm also hoping that Kat confronts him over it. She might not be too keen on his keeping his "super-powers" secret from her (and, yes, I know that this crops up a lot in super-hero stories, but it's still the most likely response that one would make to such a situation).

Now we're going to need to figure out what superhuman skill at basketball has to do with wearing increasing layers of clothing. I'm warming up to Aly a lot more lately. He's been pretty nice in general, especially to Kat, but also by not judging Annie. It seems to me like he's been trying to conceal any abilities he might have. If that's the case, Aly's reacting to Winsbury by revealing himself rather than just punching him in the nose may show that Aly has a noble side. After all, revealing himself like that may pose future risk for Aly, but he was willing to take that risk rather than cause injury to someone else. On the flip-side, maybe he just felt that stomping Winsbury in sports would be more effective than a mere pop in the honker. But I hope it's the former - just showing off isn't worthy of respect in my opinion. I'm curious if he's going to be steaming or something when he lands - if so, maybe he needs all the extra clothing because when he's not moving very quickly he can't keep his body temperature up. He could be "super-efficient", so to speak. i.e. very little "waste" heat generated by his body. And I liked the way Tom did the speed effects. Way more effective than those overused speed-line backgrounds, yes?

I don't know if Aly has been "not judging Annie" for certain, since (aside from that silent glance that he gave her a few pages back), he hasn't responded to her at all. (As far as I could tell, he wasn't even aware that his pop culture conversations with Kat had driven her away.) For all that we know, he might be judging her on the inside.
Incidentally, Tom used that same kind of speed effect (in the first panel) in the scenes in Chapter Twelve when Annie was galloping about on Reynardine's back.
