So he doesn't know where he's going after this week at the Court. Annie suspects something fishy is going on, and so do I. I wonder if Aly will need some rescuing in the future? Curious - that house he's building looks pretty run-down... maybe he used to live in such a place? Or maybe it's cause he's a boy?

I'd wondered at first if he simply hadn't finished gluing everything in place - but maybe it really is supposed to be looking that way.
I like the "something-is-not-quite-right-here" look on Annie's face as well.
Interesting question about whether Aly will need rescuing, mrw. I'd initially thought that it would be Kat who'd need rescuing from Aly (if he had some dark purpose in coming to Gunnerkrigg), but this could also be possible.

That's the house from the Nightmare on Elm Street series, where Freddy Kreuger terrorized kids in their dreams. One movie had a kid building a model of the house out of popsicle sticks like that. That's probably what he meant by dream house.

After looking at today's strip a second time - yep, the house really does seem meant to look run-down (from the way that the doors and windows are done).

Yeah. Having seen the movie, that was actually what I though, but I'm not really sure what taht has to do with our story- maybe just a nother reference? (113 anyone?)
Also, this explains why it's a 'week' for Kat, instead of longer. I wonder if Annie will confront her about feeling left out.\
PS- Car + Bicycle = Tib/Fib fracture. Ow.

That scarf . . . it bears a resemblance to the one Elgamore wears as part of his dragonslayer outfit. Perhaps this one is a new dragonslayer who wants some advice from an old pro? Or perhaps Elgamore sent him to find out how much Annie and Kat know about the true purpose of the Court (and hence, how likely they are to get in trouble with the forest creatures/the robots/the teachers). Imagine his shock and horror when he finds out that Annie has been transporting Glass-eyed men to the Court, interfering with the Robot penal system, and trying to figure out the reason the Court exists.
On a less mad and unfounded note, I also think he's gonna be a fan of horror movies.

Heh, I can't believe I wrote what I did. "Hey, welcome to the Dragonslayer Society, here's your complimentary scarf"? Actually, that's not as weird as some of the stuff in GC . . .

Can't really blame you for making the inference, yeochild. For a rockin' scarf, I too would slay dragons.

mmmm and if anyone plays a lot of gran turismo 4; his shirt has the logo you see during every-other loading screen. also; charries having more than one outfit in a comic strange to BEGIN WITH. we cannot trust this lad.

In all fairness, we've seen Annie and Kat in other outfits (their gym uniforms at the start of Chapter Three, their night attire, their Spacemonaut uniforms, and their "civilian" attire in Chapter Eleven). The reason why they're usually in those sweaters and green skirts is because of the school uniform regulations (which evidently don't apply to visitors like Aly). Though having characters usually wearing the same outfits obviously makes life easier for Tom when he's drawing the webcomic.

Gah. For some reason I thought it was still sunday and didn't check until late. I feel mrw's idea that Aly might be the one in need of rescue instead of Kat. We've been guessing at why he's here for only a week, and apparently so has he... weird stuff. Unless the whole clueless popculture savvy brat thing is just an act of course and he turns out to be Antimony's father after cutting off her hand or after Annie finally locates that missing DNA evidence.

After cutting off her hand? Is there a reference here that I'm not getting?

Given everything else that we've seen in the Gunnerkrigg Court universe (shadow-men, the Minotaur, a demon possessing a toy wolf, ghosts, fairies, sentient though hopelessly naive robots, etc.), rejuvenation magic probably isn't too improbable.
Though if it turns out that that's who Alistair really is, it's going to be really unsettling for Kat when she finds out.

Not to mention that I can just see Annie saying to him, "You run off somewhere without telling me, and now you come back as a kid, and start going out with my best friend when Mother's been dead for less than a year!"

Haha, it would be awkward if that happens, but I(we) know or hope that there is a different ending, but that would be funny anyways.
