Oh really? Then I'm gonna go ahead and stick my neck out by saying that she's definitely not Jack's dad.

Chasing Guy is dressed quite formally, but he's not wearing official Court green. Maybe he's not affiliated with the Court at all?

Actually, he should. It's the same uniform the gloomy-faceless-hidden-in-the-dark 'recruiters' wear when they talk to Zimmy about the school

After all, Jack has been searching for Zimmy since the aftermath of the Jupiter Moon Martians, and the recruiters are indirectly linked to Zimmy...

Actually, hate to correct you guys, they aren’t wearing the same uniform. The person chasing Jack is wearing a uniform with six buttons, not counting the two on the shirt-pocket. The recruiters only have four.
I think Chaser has a different rank in Court Hierarchy.

The question I'd really like to see answered is why Jack is handing Annie that piece of paper, as if requesting her assistance, when in "Residential", he believed her to be too aloof and cold to want to help anyone. Nothing's happened since then (as far as we know) to suggest that he's changed his mind about her.

You know, when she helps everyone prank the teachers and take control of the cabin using Jack's laser cow friends.

According to Tom’s formspring page, Jack’s been rather isolated lately and is having a difficult time making friends, due to his creepines). Maybe Jack is starting to see what Annie has to deal with, socially, being the weird one who gets stared at and he’s starting to be on the same page as her. Or at least in the same chapter.

They will be on the same page when Annie unfolds the paper and realizes that it's large enough for both of them to stand on, with two pairs of footmarks labelled "Jack" and "Carver".

Okay, I didn’t word that so well. I meant it, more so, him being slightly sympathetic to her situation. Even slightly.

No, you worded it fine. I just took your "on the same page" metaphor extension ("in the same chapter") to its punny extreme.

Who knows, Jack might be developing a secret army and he’s giving her the location of the secret base, thinking Annie’s ability to create fire will come in handy when their plot to take over the Court comes into play. Either that or he might just need her to do him a favor.

Maybe he just thinks this is a way of communicating that won't result in him being savagely mauled by a giant wolf monster.

It seems to be the least of his current problems. At best, third. Maybe he just thinks this is a way of communicating that won't result in him being savagely mauled by a giant wolf monster. Or will not be derailed by blurting out something stupid in first place. Hmmm, really, he's a smart guy, he can get a clue by now.

Well. That theory doesn’t hold up that well anymore, seeing as he’s practically seen as a celebrity by the other students.

Well. That theory doesn’t hold up that well anymore, seeing as he’s practically seen as a celebrity by the other students. You think? There's a difference between fame, and infamy. Note that they call him by his full name, they say he's been acting crazy lately, and they thought he was off sick. What in that implies celebrity? Let's substitute "Jack Hyland" in those utterances with, say, "Jeffrey Dahmer". Sounds about the same, doesn't it? I wouldn't call Jeffrey Dahmer a "celebrity". Of course, people (both you and me) tend to read into things what they wish to get out of things. People who think Jack is so cool and is the bee's knees are going to interpret every reference to him in a positive, "cool" way, and people who think that he's a troubled, even disturbed kid are going to interpret every reference to him in that light. Honestly I couldn't really say which one is more accurate. Only Tom knows for sure what he intended. I will say though that when the pro-Jack camp (I'm making a concerted effort to not label people as "Jack fanboys" here) was espousing on how cool Jack was for his "mad parkour skills" two pages back, Tom gave a pointed reply on his Formspring paraphrased as "Is hopping down 5 steps and falling over considered to be parkour?" It's not that I hate Jack. It's that I think the love of Jack in certain quarters is a little overinflated. And of course that doesn't really affect the rotation of the earth or anything else remotely important, but still. A person could interpret the entire story as Annie being the cold, heartless antagonist, and Jack being the heroic rebellious protagonist of the story (and believe me, that interpretation has been presented here on these very boards) and it doesn't actually -affect- anyone else's interpretation of the comic. But I guess it's human nature to want other people to see the world as we see it, or at least get them to acknowledge the equal validity of our own views. The phone rang while I was typing this, and I'm pretty sure I went into ramble mode while my attention was split. Oh well, posting this anyway for the entertainment value.

Even though I'm not by any means a Jack fanboy, I have to say the students in today's page seem to see him as a sort of celebrity. Look how excited they all are (especially that girl) just to have seen him. Whether famous or infamous, he's definitely seen in a good light by the student body.

Well the brown haired girl does seem to see him positively. I think the rest of the class is probably parted on the subject. Some thinking he's a cool rebel. Others that he's a jerk who needs to sit down and act normal. The kids in the background seem to be discussing the event rater than cheering over it.

You might be absolutely right about brown-haired girl, Evil A. I interpreted it more as she was excited because a boy (any boy) passed a note to a girl (any girl) and at that age, that is an event worth getting giggly about. I mean you're right, her reaction might be specifically because it's Jack... but I happened to see it another way.

Jack has such mad ninja skills. "Fourteenth-story window? What fourteenth-story window? Oh, you are referring to this POTENTIAL ESCAPE ROUTE?" TicTocs don't need a launch code. TicTocs: You didn't think we'd be telling you all about the launch if there was any chance of you stopping it, did you? It happened thirty minutes ago. Annie: ...
