Is that what it's like to look at gods?

what if coyote sees everything in both real and ethereal vision at the same time, all the time? he certainly has enough eyes for it.

Yeah, look at all those eyes, and teeth! If it wasn't for the cheerful colors, I'd get a rather lovecraftian vibe from that version of Coyote. Ysengin is beautiful, indeed. Beauty and the beast, anyone?

Oh, Coyote... you're magnificent... but I am just a little nervous on account of your many, many ultra fine and also triple sharp teeth.

This is a fascinating page. It looks like it was hand drawn with colored pencil... which is either really impressive pencil technique, or really impressive computer technique to be able to make it look like really impressive pencil technique. On the Court side, everything is grey and fluid (notice the clothing, from the Court, is the only grey thing here) and here on the Forest side, everything is wild and primal.. I'm sure that was no accident.
I'm putting forth my interpretation that the speech bubbles are not Annie, but are some other entity. We can only guess until we know more, but, with the lack of balloon tails, and the absence of the font, I'm gonna put my bets on not-Annie.

...and now that I've looked at it again, I'm even starting to doubt myself. *shrug* Who could it be other than Annie? I dunno, I'm just glad that I don't do acid, or this page would fry my brain.

Creepy. Is it just me, or is this lurching to be even more worrying and perilous than we realised?

IMHO it's a part of him that's "in focus". As if we looked at something multi-dimensional, and through a very distorting lens. Oh, Coyote... you're magnificent... but I am just a little nervous on account of your many, many ultra fine and also triple sharp teeth. ;D Ah, yes. I dunno, I'm just glad that I don't do acid, or this page would fry my brain. It will anyway... just very slowly.

Wow. This is probably the trippiest page I have ever seen. Who knew Blinker Stones could be used to make you see the world like an artist’s canvas while he/she were on acid?

My God ... It's full of stars!
So, Carver. Nice job looking right at the true form of a god. Try not to go too insane from that, willya.

This is what Surma saw in the Forest. Perhaps it is what Jeanne saw as well. The reason they both loved the Forest, maybe.

Nice! I like that look.
by the way: Ysengrin has some ethereal pattern in place of his right ear.

This page is so beautiful! It must have taken a lot of work but it turned out perfect! I am pretty sure it is Annie talking... or thinking... or whatever it is you do to communicate in the ethereal world. Note that the speech bubbles have no tails in this page too www.gunnerkrigg.com/archive_page.php?comicID=599

No wonder Coyote has such a big ego. I really hope that isn't Renard's spirit or something talking there.

My first thought was that Annie's being hypnotised or brainwashed. Either way would be bad.

We can only guess until we know more, but, with the lack of balloon tails, and the absence of the font, I'm gonna put my bets on not-Annie. I was guessing it wasn't her just based on the text alone. Who would be more likely to say "Oh, Coyote... you're magnificent..." than Coyote himself? And the bit about Ysengrin was added so Annie couldn't argue with him without hurting Y's feelings.

I expect Coyote sees it anyway. He doesn't need things like blinker stones to enter the etherium.
Anyway, an excellent page all-around. Coyote looks just right for a god--a many-faceted existence impossible to compact into any one shape or thing; he looks more like a force than a person. He is indeed great and terrible. That's the joy of a trickster: they're often a net neutral. Someday, I am certain Coyote will do something unspeakable to Annie, but not expressly to hurt her, but just to see what happens.
As for Ysengrim, he's always beautiful, but it's really nice that Annie can acknowledge it now.

She has a cut on her face! No, seriously, nikita's point was that Ysengrin was still missing an ear in the ether. Rey's not a wolf doll in the ether. And Annie has a cut on her face. OK, Annie, see if you can pry your eyes away from the beautiful god and demigod now and look at Rey's body!

So, does this mean that Ysengrin's missing ear is somehow a defining part of his true being? -or that the loss of the ear was an event that took place in the physical world and the etherium simultaneously? Also - those marks on Ysengrin's etheric form looks a lot like those on the title page, framing Coyote's colours. Seams like they were both represented there - we just didn't know at that time. This makes me think that the title could refer to Ysengrin as well as Coyote (someone else already speculated this elsewhere - I was just reminded of it by this detail).

So, does this mean that Ysengrin's missing ear is somehow a defining part of his true being? -or that the loss of the ear was an event that took place in the physical world and the etherium simultaneously? I'd say a bit of both. It was probably something he had to give up to get his tree body; an initial sacrifice, if you will (the trembling and other physical ramifications are a "bonus", if you will). As a result, even though he had the ear before the creation of the Annan Waters, it's an essential part of him now. The damage had to be of such importance that it appears both in the physical world and represented in the etherial world.

Coyote's white-on-blue suggests Northwest Coast (of N. America) Indian art motifs done in printed-circuit style. Marvelous!
