I have a sword made of ice, too.
But only a dragon slayer can ruin your shit with one.
(Oh yeah, Jimmy did this before. I really need to order the book so I can mesmerise stuff like that without going through the archives again.)

The dragon. It hath been slain.
I really like the layout of the third panel. And apparently Anja can throw you if you touch the ... purple bubble thing. So that's pretty cool.
At what angle did Thorn toss the sword? Did he walk around it to get the cool dramatic look? 'Cuz it's pretty cool.
Aw, look how Donny's collar is half tucked in. Reminds me of me.

This wouldn't be the first time a dragon slayer has used a sword as a projectile weapon. www.gunnerkrigg.com/archive_page.php?comicID=119Maybe they should invest their time in spears more than swords if they're going to misuse their weaponry like that (unless that's just how Eglamore rolls, in which case it's perfectly ok.)

'ello, Mister Thorn. Glad you're doing well.
Also, Donny is such a dork. "Magic? COOLNESS." x)

Donny's probably thinking "Damnit, she's pretty AND magic, I'll never get her!"

I'm betting Mr. Thorn is trying to scout Eglamore for the dragonslaying job because he's having hard time fitting his most majestic beard into the armor these days.

I wonder if this is significant, or simply a detail o' realism: the two holes in the Dragon Slayer's breastplates in the last panel look like attachment points for the shoulder guards (#548).
He could have been in too much of a hurry to bother with shoulder guards, I guess. But that would be boring, and those holes look too big to be boring.
Also, this page makes me wonder why, since Eglamore bothered taking a sword at all, he didn't take the glowing sword to the Greeting Hall for Ysengrin & Coyote's appearance (#285).

I think Eglamore trusted Coyote well enough, because Surma did.
Anja looks so cute in the first panel! And for a glowing sword appearing out of nowhere, they don't look overly surprised.

The glowing sword's a bit flashy, since it was supposed to be a diplomatic meeting it probably wasn't a good idea to be too heavily armed. Not to mention it was the same sword he used to kill the shadow, which is part of what caused the issue in the first place.

Did anyone else hear the sword make the same "thwock thwock thock" noise the Mach 5 made when it jumped? Because that was the sound my brain envisioned when I read those panels.

Jones doesn't use swords. I bet ya it's actually Parley's dad.

That would be funny, seeing as he looks so beaurocratic in Chap 14.

I think you're thinking of Janet's dad (the Headmaster). We've never seen Parley Sr. (unless I'm horribly mistaken).

The glowing sword's a bit flashy, since it was supposed to be a diplomatic meeting it probably wasn't a good idea to be too heavily armed. Not to mention it was the same sword he used to kill the shadow, which is part of what caused the issue in the first place. Right, but the one he took instead was pretty...what's the word...useless. If Coyote hadn't bapped Ysengrin.... Eglamore didn't appear to be carrying the sword on his person (##272, 277, 280), which makes me think it was somewhere inconspicuous (if not actually concealed), which would have been true for the glowing purple sword. Plus, the g.p.s. seems usually to be kept under wraps (hee hee) – for what reason we don't know – but that would have reduced its flashiness at the meeting. Anyway, two possibilities occur to me (there used to be three but I forgot what one of them was): 1. Eglamore didn't expect violence and brought the sword as a formality. But if it was a formality, why the inconspicuousness? 2. Eglamore considered the possibility of violence and brought the sword as a precaution. But a useless sword's not much of a precaution (and in this, I'm assuming – from today's comic, the Bridge Incident, and #285 – that the g.p.s. is the only one effective against Gillitie wood-things. But perhaps I am wrong and it has something to do with Glass-Eyed Men rather than animated wood, in which case it wouldn't have been of use in the Greeting Hall). (Also, in today's comic, the guy in the armor is future-Anthony. That's why he had to leave Good Hope. It took him one of the two years to travel this far back in time, and it'll take the second year to return. It's also why Tom can say the DogWoods have nothing to do with past-Anthony's "matters" [which, by the way, involve going even further back in time and killing Diego. Yes, Diego].)

Has anyone noticed how Kat seems to have inherited her father's nose, slightly biggish and round? Hence the heckling about it from Zimmy.

I do think it would be funny if it was the Headmaster I'm pretty sure it's Thorn though. Can I just add that everyone could really help out by going to the GKCFanProject forum and voting on the first set of auditions. If everyone could do that it would be swell

It's obviously Robox in the form of Mr. Thorn, coming to save the kids from peril via a rip in space-time continuum using a Magician's Sword with +20 DPS to etheric creatures, given to Robox for saving all of robot kind in another dimension 20 000 years into the future.
