Me and other 2 GC fans cannot reach the comic due to a timeout error from the server: did Jeph link us again or something? Help If there is no problem of sorts on the server, but only for us, feel free to make this thread die, but first we need to know EDIT: all of us are from europe, if that matters.

Looks like it's down. Though the webpanel and everything say my site is fine. It must be a problem on their end.

I'm not sure if it's been fixed already, but I can access the comic.

I think you got goonrushed, since I found this place over there. Was up and down a bit as I tried to go through the archived earlier. Or a trans-atlantic pipe could have been bumped by a whale.... repeatedly.

I'm getting Network Timeout again and it seems not to go away like last time. It's stuck. Tom, do you have an idea of why this is happening? edit: seems fixed. Excuse me for the alarm.

Also, mobs of smeared-face black-goo-spiked Nobodies. ...Sorry, couldn't resist.
Edit: also...the site is down again.

My husband does network systems stuff so I asked him to look into it, he says the site is refusing connections and guessed server maintenance. Unsure if spotty uptime jives with that, might just mean it's decentralized to some extent and different chunks turn off and on. Or if it is a DDOS then it may be refusing connections as a protective measure.
If the trans-Atlantic cable got bumped by a whale I reckon I'd be hearing a lot more swearing from the direction of my husband's office.

Husband: "DDOS would be immediately identifiable if the site master has access to management portal. Staggered load issues might fit that scenario depending on if they're using a CDN, and if they have any load balancing in their stack."
I know that a CDN is a content distribution network (web of proxy servers) and load balancing is what it sounds like. So I guess if it's not a DDOS then it's prob the host network doing some inconvenient maintenance or having a server catch fire or whatever.
Internet infrastructure in general has been a complete shambles lately due to everyone suddenly needing to use the web for everything and a bunch of companies discovering what happens when you view IT as an expense rather than an investment. So really anything from unexpectedly needing to take servers offline to blades literally melting wouldn't be all that unexpected.

I don't think it will contribute much to say that I can't reach Gunnerkrigg from the Netherlands either, but I will say that I am very sad about the lack of GC in my life this morning. What am I supposed to do in the meantime, actually get work done?!

If we're starting a pool on when it goes up again put me down for 6:01:25am local.

Years of reliable access, and then in the last few weeks it's been down 3 or 4 times. Suspicious. Something is up.
