Looks like they're putting the forest dudes up in one or more apartment buildings. Hopefully that's temporary and once they get them issued some basic necessities and used to the standard facilities and city hazards they'll get their own farms or whatever.

Apartment buildings actually might not be such a huge change compared to what they used to live in. If that is Paz she's obviously going to be confronting Annie for her own reasons but I can't shake the feeling she wants to ask Annie for help with Kat, since Kat clearly isn't listening to whatever Paz is so upset about.

Oh boy we finally arrived to the final boss of the comic, the biggest challenge of them all!
Annie giving relationship advice

I wonder if Paz even has a genuine plan. I suspect that she may have started stalking Antimonies with a vague notion of getting the goods on her/them; after all there's two of them so clearly at least one must somehow be fake/wrong/whatever, right? And then once Antimonies is/are busted and revealed to the public, then Paz can prove to Kat that clearly Paz was right and Kat will apologize or whatever. Of course that notion might become a plan to confront Antimonies, particularly if Paz gets caught stalking them. Oh boy we finally arrived to the final boss of the comic, the biggest challenge of them all! Annie giving relationship advice- Abandon all hope. I doubt it will come to that even if Paz and Antimonies confront each other. More likely it'll just be confusion and raised voices. Let's hope that she doesn't see a pair of heavy flowerpots on an apartment balcony and a nearby helpful pideon during the stalking phase, though, since love can make people do strange things...

OK, I understand this should logically be Paz, since she's our current Chekov's gun (several mentions in the last chapter, rising tension with Annies, possible break-up with Kat,...), but I WANT this to be Zimmy or Gamma.

I am guessing that's a skirt since the Antimonies aren't dressed for chilly evenings but if Paz's nighttime sneaking ensemble turns out to be the easily-misinterpreted short-pants or short skirt and trenchcoat combo I will laugh my ass off.

I've been waiting for Jack and Jenny to reappear (last seen, with Zim and Gam, in The Torn Sea which was two and a half volumes ago.) We do know that we've seen the last of Red and Aliyu, though.

Haven't seen Annie with a ponytail for quite some time, have we?

But yes, I hope this someone else than Paz, simply for the reason that everyone thinks it is Paz.

i really think it isn't scary at all. everyone thinks stuff like that, though people rarely say it out loud; it's just the weird superpowered narrative we tell ourselves, like all the great comebacks we come up with in the arguments inside our head.
it doesn't mean she's more or less likely to 'snap paz like a twig' and quite frankly I can't see Annie ever doing that.

Other than the school uniform, I don't think Zimmy or Gamma have ever been shown in a skirt or dress, much less one that reveals their legs. Jones prefers fitted skirts and her shoes tend to be flats or low heels.

The Juliette arm from the last page and the Paz leg from this page remind me of a movie (probably a "Naked Gun" one) where the killer is clearly shown with a man's pant leg and shoe (and nothing else, to avoid ruining the reveal).
The killer is revealed to be a woman wearing the bottom half of a man's trousers.
This is obviously That Guy.

We do know that we've seen the last of Red and Aliyu, though. Funny you should mention it... the skin tone does in fact match Aliyu's. And she has been seen wearing a skirt too. And she may have her own reasons for sneaking up on Annies in a poorly lit alley, ranging from vengeance to needing their help. After all, she may have a relationship at stake if she is seen talking to them. Hmm. Paz and Kat's relationship is definitely troubled. I wonder if there are matching troubles between Aliyu and Red. If so, are they linked?

All joking aside, I'm 99% sure that's not Eglamore or Smitty or even Jones headed to a fancy dress party.
That's probably Paz. The shoe is not what she was wearing earlier, but the Annies have changed clothes as well (ponytail!).
The only other possibility I can think of is a jumpscare. The stalker movie sound effect stops and it's actually some random Court student who needs directions to the High Street.
And then Paz shows up.

I'm trying to decide who'd be likely to wear those clompy shoes in addition to a skirt. I think it could be Gamma or Jenny, and it's probably Paz, but who I want it to be is this reality's Annie. We've been short one for a while now.

And... wait, let's start this ov- urk. (falls aside with knife in back to reveal Paz) (Psycho shower music plays briefly, then stops) Paz: I need directions to High Street too!

I can, but pretty much only when the alternative is to let Paz seriously physically damage someone. Which circumstances aren't likely to ever occur.

I suppose that's fair, I'm just worried that Paz' ferocity and protectiveness are going to clash with Annie's teenage overconfidence and numbers advantage to spiral into an argument that will get heated very quickly. Particularly as Annie demonstrated very shortly after displaying the overconfidence that she really doesn't want to face herself over what kind of person she's been, even to herself. If Paz backs her into that kind of corner, this is going to end in tears for someone and even more pressure on an over-stressed Kat.

With the exception that Annie actually is superpowered and could probably roast Paz golden brown, or slice and dice her with a laser beam before the latter even realizes what's up. Of course she would not do that. She DID use violence without it being self-defense, though. And when she did use violence in self-defense...well. " Don't worry. It's not my blood."

it was in this perfect world where George Costanza came up with the comeback, "the jerk store called; they're running out of you," and devastated his smug co-worker, never once dreaming that—when he finally got to act out his dream in real life—the guy would destroy him in three seconds with the off-hand remark, "why should I worry? You're their all-time best-seller."
regardless, i'm not sure either of your examples work.
example a. she did not snap anybody like a twig. she gave someone bullying her friend a blow which was no greater than the bully might receive from falling off a step ladder. example b. there's no reason to believe she killed anyone. when you kill someone, you cannot domineer their personality, and a snarling fight for 'top of the hierarchy' was basically all that fight was about. also, the amount of blood is not that huge. you'd get more blood on yourself from a broken nose.

Oh I do know he hasn't forgotten, but it's just a shame. They used to be fairly important parts of the comic, Jones especially. I've just been salty since the "Anthony returns" plot because it's increasingly clear that characters like Jones - whose mystery and mentorship of Annie once seemed central to the comic - are absent likely due to narrative convenience and not some practical Grand Plan. Like, I'm fine with Jack and Jenny not appearing again because that arc seems complete - Jack is fine, has moved on and dates a well-adjusted girl who is just kinda-similar to Zimmy in that they're both brunettes. Jones leaving the plot for so long? Not really the same thing. Same reason why I'm not excited about the whole plot with Paz. She has been barely a presence in the comic for chapters now, just as her relationship with Kat has barely been a factor. Maybe that's the point, I hope.

She also destroyed Ysengrin's wooden arm once. Regardless, I did not want to say that she would intentionally hurt someone - just that she could. And do not forget she is, due to her being part fire elemental, prone to heavier outbursts than teenagers in general.
