It seems that using the Barrage Death Beam severely drains Courtnie's stamina. I guess she can't maintain her Reddish Form for prolonged periods of time. Regarding the bone, they'll regret the fact that she didn't see the KFC bucket half-buried beside it...

I noticed through the retrospective for Get Lost recently that Tony made this comment about how Surma's power might be fueled by something consumable and finite. If only one Annie is using her fire power constantly, then maybe that's how we'll...um...get back to one Annie?

Courtnie: "Finally, the bone. I wonder what it's supposed to do?" The Goose, in the distance: "Honk!" Parley: "... No! No! Game over, man! Game over!" Eglamore: "Don't panic! None of us have hats or glasses! Don't panic!" Idra: "I have nothin' to take, but hidden buckets could be above us!" The Goose: "HONK!" Everyone panics.

Nah, Tony just meant it burns energy like physical exercise does, so Annie's either going to hungry as anything when they get back or flop down on the nearest bed like Surma did, or both.

Speaking of reference, did anyone get Tom's comment? I thought it might just be another sound to make "Kssh ssk BLAZ!", (which doesn't seem to far fetched for Annie's laser, since she is seen making a "ZAP" in jda 's avatar) but I thought there might be some specific reference behind it. I did think about Cvalda from Dancer in the Dark, but the lyrics are actually the much more pronunceable "Rattle, clang, crack, thud, whack, bam!"

This is what the refrance a game in which you play as a goose whose one goal in life is to annoy people. Speaking of reference, did anyone get Tom's comment? Most likely just a funny laser noise, and/or a callback to the laser cows (and perhaps also a nod to the laser Annie jokes of yore?)

Anyone else HYPER suspicious of Idra? $100 says the two Annies work together to dig a bit deeper.

I saw the test tube next to the goose bone and was worried, but it looks like it's a different container than the one Coyote used to give Parley the water from the lake (https://www.gunnerkrigg.com/?p=1820).
avekmontenegro asked, "Anyone else HYPER suspicious of Idra?" -- I wasn't, but now that you mention it, both Idra and Coyote chomped on wisp meat. Maybe Idra is Loup, in disguise. #similartastes

Maybe Idra is Loup, in disguise. #similartastes I suppose it could be. Although I think it would have to be the case that Loup forgot he was Loup. (Hence the water? Ho ho.) Otherwise, I'd think he would have broken character out of boredom or sheer random chaos by now. I prefer the idea that Idra is a forest dweller who is a potential ally or even somebody who can somehow help patch things up between the forest and the Court. A third way between the two. Or something along those lines. It just feels more satisfying, as if they accomplished something beyond just treasure hunting.

There was a thread last week with ideas for names for the Annies and Rey as a group, such as fire team, thermodynamic trio, and firefighters. I think fire haired friends works well on account of Rey being a fox.

It ended about as happily as you'd expect.

(You can buy the illustrated book full of Fieldwork Fails like this at the artist's shop here! )

You laugh, but that has actually happened to archaeologists. Unfortunately, yes, to both archaeologists and paleontologists. And on more than one occasion. In fact, it's more common than most people might think.
