Her name's Idra. If the wisps don't taste too bad I'm guessing they're more like lobster or eel, maybe with a little earthy and nutty flavor mixed in.

Tunnels into the Forest eh? Might be a good way to sneak in for whatever reason if Loup can be distracted.

How could Loup overlook someone in his freezing time thing? It seems... deliberate. I don't trust her yet. We could be going Inception-style here!!

I think "Loup" wasn't and isn't 100% in control of his powers. Also: Still thinking that if they can't separate and rescue Ysengrin he's going to be gone for good when "Loup" remembers that he's Coyote.

So what's keeping her from returning to the forest?

So… time to try cooked wisp? So what's keeping her from returning to the forest? She got lost? After all, she used to live in a forest, not a maze of twisted passages, all alike. That one tunnel closed? She thinks it's still all frozen on the other side?

Idra says in panel 4 that she was in the deep forest when "everything froze." Presumably she couldn't get anything to eat or drink if she stayed in the woods. Possibly also she couldn't start a fire for warmth or use time-stopped blankets, maybe she can't even get into her house. It must be pretty bad else she'd stay in the woods instead of braving the post-(semi)apocalyptic Court disaster zone and the patrols and creatures. I am a little curious why she didn't try to bypass the patrols and go deeper into the Court in search of better conditions and maybe find potential allies among the general Court population, but I suppose she has wisps to hunt and eat where she's at and wouldn't know how to go about getting food in the Court otherwise. (shrug)

(still resisting the obvious Girl Genius joke) How could Loup overlook someone in his freezing time thing? It seems... deliberate. I don't trust her yet. We could be going Inception-style here!! He could just pick as wide set of forest creatures as possible, for maximum chaos. Or it could be something set up by Coyote preemptively. I think "Loup" wasn't and isn't 100% in control of his powers. And perhaps generally scatter-brained.

Tunnels into the Forest eh? Might be a good way to sneak in for whatever reason if Loup can be distracted. Annie was specifically told about the tunnels when she was speaking with Loup, they were made by one of the seeds. I assume she has told the rest of the court about them by now so prob not a surprise.

Am I the only one who thinks its a bit weird to eat something you can talk to? Its not exactly cannibalism if its a different species, but wisps are sentient afterall.
But then again you probably cant eat lobster either, because you have a giant one taking care of you half the time. And her mate lives in a bucket nearby egging you on to go on an adventure...

But yes, it seems many, if not all, animals in Gillitie are sentient and able to talk (in their own language at least), and if you have to kill the wisps anyway lest you get killed by them...

Annie was specifically told about the tunnels when she was speaking with Loup, they were made by one of the seeds. I assume she has told the rest of the court about them by now so prob not a surprise. The tunnels were probably just known to exist, now they have a clue about where one of them might be. And in finding one it might be even possible to map the rest of the network and seal the forest entrances. They just need to eliminate Idra's food supply first, so I hope she's welcome after being introduced by both forest mediums Am I the only one who thinks its a bit weird to eat something you can talk to? I'm not sure you can talk to them? They seem to be saying "||||||||" in person and the rest is stuff you think you're told in their illusions. Also, the bandage went on a coffee break in the flashback and didn't return in time for the last two panels.

Like trying to quietly crack a lobster, while sitting next to Bud.

I hate to agree, but it does seem something underhanded enough that Loup would send someone, knowingly or unknowingly, to make sure he got to the bone and water. Hope i'm wrong, but i hope the team thinks to treat her with cautious politeness.

"Idra" is "Raid" spelled sideways.

My guess would be that Idra didn't get frozen because Loup is not Coyote, and we've seen with Regard and Ysengrin that his power are weakened and twisted when used by someone else.
So, turns out Idra is the MVP here. The Court would have been swarmed a while ago if she hadn't fought and been feeding on wisps for months.

So Fig Tree? I suppose an elf analog would work with that. Though I’m like 40% convinced she’s a memory messed with original Annie between the “covered with a fig leaf” symbolism and the theme of the chapter being forest creatures obscuring identities.

It's been a hot minute since we've had a major character introduced...I'm going to go the gullible route and believe that she's 100% real and mostly not lying to the protags here. Just for funsies.

Am I the only one who thinks its a bit weird to eat something you can talk to? Its not exactly cannibalism if its a different species, but wisps are sentient afterall. Food that talks is not food… but the goon never said anything, so it's okay, right? It's implied that wisps themselves don't have such scruples. And it's a forest indeed. Critters get eaten now and then. So, turns out Idra is the MVP here. The Court would have been swarmed a while ago if she hadn't fought and been feeding on wisps for months. Not necessarily, we don't know wisps' rates of feeding and reproduction. They clearly can't buzz around like dragonflies. But it looks like she's culling the pests, yes.
