Wait, so what just happened? In panel 3 it looks like she is jumping forwards, but then in panel 4 she is still in the same place where she started?
Is something distorting time? Preventing them from moving? Or am I just reading the comic wrong?

Wait wait... teleporting I can understand, it's a "trick", an ability you can block. But flight is just a physical action! Orjak flap wing, Orjak fly! So from Annie's point of view, did Cvet fly away for a second before being BLIPPED back next to her? Or did nothing happen relative to Annie and the guards, while Cvet was just visualizing flying? What would happen if they try to walk towards the creature?
Has Annie already tried to communicate to it in the Ether? So far we've only seen her use the Annie-Talkies.

There is a way out of these kinds of loops, Cvet.

hmm, this must be very powerful magics blocks teleportation warped space that keeps the party separated into 3 groups Land-locked to prevent flight
I wonder if jumping or running would work at all.

Edit, to point to a future commment: Additionally, kaj means "what" also in Slovenian (which was Sivo's native language, if I recall correctly).

Maybe it is working. Until someone crashes/teleports into something that isn't supposed to be there, how would they know?

"Okay, what's the kaj?" "Exactly."

I interpret the action from Cvet's perspective this way: She takes off, flies for a while, then wonders why the big creature does not seem to be nearer than before. She turns her head around to look how far away she is from Annie and notices Annie is still right next to her. Then she notices she is still standing on the ground. Annie, meanwhile, probably just saw Cvet make some awkward motions instead of flying towards the big creature. Additionally, kaj means "what" also in Slovenian (which was Sivo's native language, if I recall correctly). By the way, is anyone else getting "Attack on Titan" vibes here? I do, and I have not even seen more than two episodes of that show.

Hmm... looks to me like they're in one of those situations where, no matter how much you move, you never make any progress.
Happens some times in nightmares.

To tell the truth this whole chapter has so little context for any of what's going on that I'm having a very hard time being at all invested in it.

And if you wish to go anywhere you must run twice as fast as that.

I actually like Cvet, and she looks tough, but so far her record on the comic is: - Fail her entrance
- Fail to help the Annies in trouble
- Eavesdropping
- Be a huge gossip
- Try to jump forward and end up a few feet behind instead
Very impressive Her main achievements so far are to have neither killed Renard or been killed by Renard, and (the actually useful one) to tell Annie that she can talk to herself

The talk of Wisp mindgames is making me think they were all separated because they will be easier to turn on one another. Prediction: This will backfire with two out of three groups, but C!Annie and Eglamore have already started on the wrong foot and it'll go downhill from there. If the wisps trap them in a maze of illusions, it would be so awesome to have Gunnerkrigg's Minotaur make an appearance to help them out. Maze of illusions theory now has a much higher probability of being correct. Waiting for our minotaur buddy to show up with crossed fingers.

Dialects named after the interrogative pronoun they use--I love it! Reminds me of the langue d'oïl vs. langue d'oc classification in France.

She turns her head around to look how far away she is from Annie and notices Annie is still right next to her. Then she notices she is still standing on the ground. Annie, meanwhile, probably just saw Cvet make some awkward motions instead of flying towards the big creature. That's my take as well though we won't know for sure until next comic... If Cvet is actually flying and is being made to think she isn't then she will hit the ground fairly quickly, since she hasn't been flying long. hmm, this must be very powerful magics blocks teleportation warped space that keeps the party separated into 3 groups Land-locked to prevent flight I wonder if jumping or running would work at all. That could be the case but how would they know who's got abilities they need to block, aside from Cvet who can obviously fly? I suspect that the wisps acting in tandem are able to lock everybody into an entirely-mental world of their own creation... but if that's the case then why split the group and why is someone missing? Even if they'd been taken out in real life it would make sense to keep a decoy going in the fake world so nobody gets suspicious. The only answer that I can think of is that the wisps started out with minimal or no changes are changing things more on the fly as they need to. Both George and Cvet telegraphed what they were going to do very clearly. The Antimonies and Renard can still communicate either because the wisps didn't know about that, or because the master/familiar bond is something they can't interfere with; George and James didn't announce they were going to do the compass-arrow trick, they just did it. I do wish an Antimony would get the idea to look at stuff through the ether when etheric stuff is happening... I actually like Cvet, and she looks tough, but so far her record on the comic is... To be fair, a lot of the second string characters in the comic are kinda lackluster.

Actually, reminds me of Welsh and Walloon being named after a Germanic word for "gibberish". Looked it up now, the derivation appears to be in the other direction.

The thing being a teamwork exercise and all.
