Hmm, I guess I forgot when Kat showed Annie how her computer can transfer matter. Can anyone help me out?

I figure they built the house from plans they found online and scrap wood salvaged from debris but they do have kits you can order.

I figure they built the house from plans they found online and scrap wood salvaged from debris but they do have kits you can order. Well there is a lot of rubble around to reclaim. Edit: Also this is the second time we've heard someone's put their etheric computer in a 'secret location'. Wildspec: Maybe this is Tom getting all literal metaphor on us again: Both Anja and Kat's computers exist in an etheric hammerspace, the location of which doesn't actually exist anywhere in particular except that it is a secret itself. The fidelius charm of computing. Perhaps the Court and Forest exist in a similar way?

ha! fair enough... my Apple reference was random - just some company with a cloud network. Fair, it wasn't really a crack at you, more that Apple is a garbage fire for anything other than end-user stuff.

I really like that visual cloud server analogy. It's the Creator Cloud where she does her work and has... taken the dead golems to rest there, almost like a metaphorical afterlife in the clouds. Hmm. I would not be surprised if Robot and what Seraphs are part of his cult have interpreted this as their Angel taking them to their equivalent of the realm of the dead (and wouldn't it be just awkward for Kat to check on her computer only to find that a door connecting her workshop to the ROTD popped out of nowhere.)
Good catch, ST13R. My question is, does Kat herself know that the cloud service serves that purpose? Or maybe, anticlimactically, it's just a service that she hasn't implemented yet (this is Tom Siddell we're talking about; always prepare for the anticlimax.)

Ah, the time-honoured tradition of gunnerkrigg court anticlimaxes. Honestly I shouldn't have expected to see a cool reveal this early in the chapter. Still I expect - or at least hope - that we'll get to see the full computer eventually.

Kat's and Anja's computers remind me of the in-universe explanation in Phantasy Star Universe/Portable for the players carrying tons of weapons, items and clothes in their inventory and their ability to access them on the fly:

That's how I've always headcanoned inventories working in games because it makes more sense than my character(s) lugging around like 17 backpacks of plate armor and potions

That moment you realise the entire comic has been a build up to this, and it's actually just about interior decorating with Shadow and Robot for the next three thousand pages.
Then you realise that you're entirely okay with this.

Sweet anticlimax. Actually, they're standing in front of the set of their Dust Bowl play, Rust And Tears. Just off screen is a palatial techno-estate.
If the Ether ever becomes connected to KatCloud, I wonder if the original robots would pass on, or will it take a "reborn" robot dying, to spark it all off? Also, is it just me, or does it seem a little cold to chuck all the old robots' bodies in storage? Hopefully, they had a tasteful ceremony.

I like that their hillbilly hideaway has a b-ball net for some one-on-one.
I can't shake this feeling that Kat is building SkyNet.

You know, I'd question Kat's ability to have that many hidden, tightly controlled safe spaces to put all her equipment in, but this is the Court we're talking about, for Chirssakes. You can hardly take 5 steps without tripping over some sort of secret bunker/storage room that no one's touched for decades. And besides, she has the Seraph robots to potentially help her out with finding places and moving stuff to them, so...yeah. That's not really a problem.
Speaking of problems, why is EVERYONE insisting that Kat's computer is SKYNET specifically!?! Not all computers are sentient evil computers, you Luddite reactionaries! Just because it's a highly advanced computational device, which manufactures, analyzes, and stores all of Kat hyper-advanced technology projects, including the creation of multiple versions of semi-organic androids, and it's completely networked and separately stored in numerous server locations to prevent enemy combatants from finding and destroying it, DOESN'T MEAN THAT IT'S... ... ... ... ...okay, I'm still not hitting the panic button quite yet, but if Kat starts developing time-travel technology that only works on living organic material for some reason, everybody run.

About the b-ball net: I suspect it was Kat's suggestion so Robot can practice using his new bod but the kids did play basketball in gym so it may have been Shadow's idea, or a combination of the two. Also: clickbait
