It may have been unintentional but now nearly everyone Antimony knows has tried to kill her, or at least sent her into danger.

If somebody asks them "How'd it go" or "What happened", I imagine both Annies just unhinging their jaws and letting out the most ungodlyfine screech.

Steamed hair? Did you get hair into my steamed hams, Tom? "Seymour, the house is on fire!" "No mother, it's just a half-human half-fire elemental and her clone fighting a water themed monster in an underground bunker."

This looks like the set up for a round of Munchkin! If somebody asks them "How'd it go" or "What happened", I imagine both Annies just unhinging their jaws and letting out the most ungodlyfine screech. Like this?

I just want to say that I appreciate that Tom doesn't just copy-paste Annie's face, even when they're making the same expression

"No mother, it's just a half-human half-fire elemental and her clone fighting a water themed monster in an underground bunker." "You mean to tell me that there's a steamed ashray, at this time of the night, in this corner of the Court, entirely concentrated in YOUR underground bunker, Kat?" "..... yes?" "Can I see it?" "..... No...."

Why has the use of the blue clips been so inconsistent in this arc tho Just slips of the pen - the art equivalent of those occasional spelling errors that everyone in the audience spots at once and which Tom sets straight a few hours later.

Why has the use of the blue clips been so inconsistent in this arc tho I have re-read the whole chapter, and the clips are shown every time they should be visible. Except when the Annies turn into fire elemental form, but Tom has omitted the clip from that particular display before.
Frankly, I think people are reading way too much into those hairclips. As in any supposed height differences between Annie and Annie.

Yep. The hair clip didn't appear here either, so I'm willing to apply Occam's Razor and say it's a result of more hair.

Looks like everybody but Annie was having a fine old time.
If nobody was monitoring the bunker, I'm gonna be pretty mad at Kat. You'd think she would know better.
(The above is provisional until we find out for sure whether the Ashray was a real or fake threat.)

I'm still not convinced they are both real, but I suppose we will know by the end of the next chapter.

Big question: where is the story going to go after this?
After this incident, I can see both Annies being less fond of their friends for putting them into that situation (even though they hadn't expected the Ashray to show up). I wonder whether this could lead to them deciding that they've had it with the Court, and both go storming off together, resolved to abandon Gunnerkrigg to its fate and let Loup wreck it if he wants - though I doubt they'd want anything to do with him either.
But if that's their response, it raises the question of what direction the comic will take thereafter:
1. Following the adventures of the two Annies as they head out into the world, leaving the Court and the Forest behind - almost the "Gunnerkrigg Court" version of "Titus Alone" (though "alone" wouldn't be an apprpriate word here, with two of them). ("Titus Alone" was the third book of the Gormenghast trilogy, where the title character, Titus Groan, leaves Gormenghast behind and we follow his adventures in the outside world, with the rest of the cast from the previous two books out of the story, except for an occasional mention.) Though Tom would have to retitle the comic, probably, and we'd have a lot of unresolved threads.
2. Annie is, for the moment, out of the story, and the focus turns to the rest of the cast having to handle the problems facing the Court on their own - maybe hurriedly resolving the Loup problem and the bulk of the robots being stuck powering the force field so that Tom can return to the robot religion thread.
Both strike me as difficult (though not impossible) directions for the story, so Tom will probably take a third course - though what that is, I can't guess as yet.

I hope someone brought a comb. Frizzy hair is the Worst.
But I also wonder who is going to get an earful. All of em? Primarily Kat and Parley? Maybe the Annies will come in, sit down, and/or ask for a comb, and it will be the end of the chapter. I expect the chapter will be over in 1-5 pages.
