As a suggestion, follow the custom of "[number] phrase" when naming threads

Back to the start?Edit: Actually, comparing to the 3th and 7th panels of page 2103, this doesn't seem to be the same place.

So they're back at their staring point now, but the door is open, suggesting Parley had returned and found them missing (?). And also, blue goo from the ashray... did Parley enter, encounter/battle the ashray, and is now looking for the Annie's in panic in the huge hole in the floor? The Scooby gang must be totally freaked out!
edit: no, Corvo the wise crow is right, this is not the the starting point. Never mind!

Mentally digging up that article that was linked on the myth of the Ashrei, weren't they always depicted as female? That might be another double meaning on the chapter title now it looks like they'll have to deal with it properly.

No he's right, the (what I'm assuming are) power boxes of some kind are different in today's page, and there are no vents. Solid catch Corvo. Edit: Oh, whoops, missed that reference.

Speaking of Parley. I've seen somewhere some speculations about her power, basically that she can teleport somewhere as long as she knows where it is/has been there. But what happens when the somewhere has changed? There's the fore-image so I doubt she'll ever teleport into something. But will the foreimage be enough to prevent her teleporting on floor that's not here anymore? Edit: and there's water in this room. But the door was locked?

A couple threads back (?) someone suggested that it's the necklace that makes Anthony unable to be himself around the Annie that wears it. Since the necklace has now traded necks, I guess we'll find out if that's true... and if it is, will the Annies want to stop wearing it altogether, despite its connection to their mother's memory?

Well, this would make the neurosis of the Father too easy to fix. Just do not wear the pendant, and your father isnt an ice block anymore Annie.
Not saying that Annie (any Annie, for that matter) wants to forget her mother to appease the father. You shouldnt dwell that hard in the past.

I feel like Pft!Annie just handed Forest!Annie the thing that would have saved her from...something. I had a similar thought. It could be a tracking device, a control device, an identification device, but also a ward. If it is, and knowing how Tom plots, we may find out soon or in 40 chapters.

Perhaps, they'll go through this door to find everyone in party hats, as the Ashray was an illusion of Kat's tech?
It'll be interesting to see if there are effects from swapping the necklace. If Tony's behavior swaps, why would Surma's necklace affect him so? It'll be more interesting to see Frannie and Courtnie have different relationships with him. The path not traveled, and all that.

Yeah, I suggested that as "wild speculation", meaning that I wasn't quite serious. I still think it's rather unlikely, but this page does seem to attach some importance to the necklace, so who knows.

It could be the same door, but seen from the other side. Opens the wrong way. Why do you say that? We haven't seen the original door open, so it could swing either in or out, and could be hinged either right or left.

If Tony's behavior swaps, why would Surma's necklace affect him so? It'll be more interesting to see Frannie and Courtnie have different relationships with him. The path not traveled, and all that. Hmm, building on gpvos' idea: the necklace itself is the alchemical symbol for the element Antimony. However, both of her mother's names are also associated with Antimony: surma is Hindi, Urdu, Punjabi, and Russian for Kohl, the black eye cosmetic (also called kohl) used in S Asia and Egypt made of ground stibnite = Antimony Sulfide (Sb 2S 3). (Note the sulfur, often associated with fire!). And wasn't Annie's grandmother also named Antimony? There is a strong link among carriers of the fire elemental to the element antimony. Is the necklace something they have passed down, generation after generation of fire elemental hosts? In alchemy, antimony symbolizes a free spirit, and an animal/natural side - which seems suitable for both Surma and Annie. Here's a wildspecky thought: maybe the Antimony necklace is not just a memento, but maybe a vessel of sorts - containing some small fraction of the spirit of each fire elemental host, so that some small part is not lost for all time in the elemental transference. If Tony can somehow vaguely sense this, that when the necklace is near there are tens of shards of host souls nearby, including his own beloved Surma, no wonder he gets uneasy and goes stiff and weird, as if another person was in the room triggering his personality quirk...

Uh oh... Where they find the outer gate open ajar... means they were already looking for them, and while they were running from Monky and being witchy/making amends, the rest of the gang was attacked by the OTHER FOREST Creatures that followed Loup Messenger...

Just as likely, Anthony is normal around Fannie *because* he doesn't see her as the real Annie. Anthony wasn't awkward around Annie when she was a kid and Surma was still alive, after all.
But TBH, for most readers and the people in-comic, the connection to the necklace won't be obvious at all.
