Paz has it in her. Actually considering Paz's performance during Torn Sea Courtnie should know Paz has in her. First person to make the obvious joke loses.

Where the hell did that come from? Edit: Strong reminders of Annie's behaviour in this page. Kat didn't like it much.

Oh snap! Them fighting words, Cadena Blanco!
Also, nice to see threatening a colleague could be a bond-sharing experience.
Also also: Where both Annies invoke in a vague way the powers of trope, and we end a chapter with inconscious Annies and a shadow smirk saying "Que no soy una amenaza?"

All part and parcel of Forest training as the Forest respects strength.

Where the hell did that come from? Presumably it came from getting knocked around during the fall and running from Monky; their adrenaline is still running high. And Paz did effectively threaten Fannie. Some self-confidence boosting is called for. Also: It is factually correct. Either Antimony could probably kick Paz's ass in a fair fight, and Courtnie could literally cut her in half. Fannie probably could too but it would take a longish time and wouldn't be pretty. btw: Anyone else getting an error where you hit "preview" and proboards acts like you hit "add attachment"? Edit: Strong reminders of Annie's behaviour in this page. Kat didn't like it much. I fully expected a link to this page.

Sylvie trying to get Courtnie to open up a bit more now that she seems to show moe about herself? Can't explain the behaviour otherwise.

Brilliant page! Where the hell did that come from? From the inside. Annie isn't nice; she acts nice. She has shown herself capable of quite rude & unpleasant behaviour, so we could have guessed what her real thoughts (occasionally) are.

Does anyone else think that some of the "water" on the ceiling, especially in panels 2 and 4, looks really weird? There seems to be normal water running down the wall in blue, and then some sort of blue slime blending in with it. It seems to move up the wall and change positions between panels 1 and 2, and now is following the girls along the ceiling in panel 4, so that they can't see it. I wonder if it is not really water at all, but some other danger waiting to ambush them.

Paranoid wildspec time: This "bonding" is anything but, Court!Annie is going to subtly goad Forest!Annie into confronting Paz' threat from earlier, then undercut Forest!Annie's efforts by acting shocked and taking Paz' side to cement herself as the #1 Annie in Kat's eyes. Edit: Edit: Strong reminders of Annie's behaviour in this page. Kat didn't like it much. I fully expected a link to this page. Nah, that's Annie genuinely trying to be funny and instead being her weird self. I was more reminded of the dismissive self-centeredness she displayed in the page I linked.

Weird as this conversation is, it's the first time the two Annies have addressed each other without an inherent hiss. ...Maybe that's *why* it's weird?

Another thing: We know Courtnie went to see Kat. Courtnie apparently was either focused on herself to the point where she didn't notice that Kat was stressing over the Antimonies' situation or Paz was taking preventative measures by threatening Fannie. I'll guess the former. On further reflection, it's sorta nice that Antimony finally has someone to high-five or thumbs-up after facing danger. Sorta not surprising it's herself. Also also also: Where water keeps going up(!), and comic illumination physics continue to apply I wonder if Monky is trying to reshape the area into something more suitable for large blue aquatic creatures by enlarging some tunnels/areas and collapsing others he can't use, or maybe he's widening/improving the root transportation system, or if he's just attacking the Court by generally undermining it. It may be that he's trying to create holes to the surface so that prey will be lured in to drink or fall in trap-like pits.

So this was Paz's plan all along, to give them a common enemy to bond over. Well Loup had exactly the same plan.
Expecting Paz to remember she is actually Loup any minute now.
(But come on, they're getting along pretty easily, there really was no need for an intervention)

Courtnie seems well on her way to become an evil overlord. Maybe Frannie too. Human interaction is an ongoing negotiation after all; I think one overlord and one mini-me (minAnnime?) would be a natural pattern for the Annies to eventually fall into. Over time it would push the lead-taking Antimony into going further than an Antimony would in order to maintain her place in the Annie hierarchy. In return for less control the less-dominant Annie would get the giggles of going along with the over-Annie's evil while being able to keep the illusion of being nice, or at least the nicer Annie. Note they both talk about snapping. No charring involved. True but it is kinda neat how she cuts things cleanly without much charring. I guess it's a tiny steam explosion plus the fire's ability to burn only things she wants to. First person to make the obvious joke loses. I must make this sacrifice, for the good of everyone else. Ehem: Oh i very much doubt Paz has ever had it in her. You lose.

Seriously though, the Annies slowly realizing that since they're the same person they can talk out their inner dialogue is adorable, and clever on Tom's part.

Where the hell did that come from? Annie (either version) hates being threatened and is proud of her strength and abilities. Not an uncommon internal reaction (which is what this effectively is) when threatened by someone you don't regard as an actual threat, or even threatened by someone who can obviously pulverise you if you're sufficiently self delusional.

Bit unfair. A moody immature teenager trying to act older and struggling to work out how to talk to a boy she has unclear feelings about is not "being a bitch".

I should like to point out that the forum thread for the page where Paz first threatens Annie is full of people saying, in so many words, basically the same thing Annie just blurted out. Where the hell did that come from? Edit: Strong reminders of Annie's behaviour in this page. Kat didn't like it much. And for that matter the page before it. "Maybe I just bring that out in people."

Where the hell did that come from? Edit: Strong reminders of Annie's behaviour in this page. Kat didn't like it much. It doesn't seem like Kat's upset there, just concerned. I think it was more about Annie blithely bringing up her mom being dead and her dad abandoning her. You tend to worry when your friend is forcing aloofness over something you know actually hurts them. I think Paz was being a pretty huge jerk to Annie. This is fair turnabout in my book. ...also, all Paz did last time was run off to her giant crab friend. I get the sense that "Annie hurt Kat's feelings so you should break her in half!" isn't going to be quite as convincing to Lindsey. If Paz really tried to start a fight with Annie, Annie would win hands down.

Also also also: Where water keeps going up(!), and comic illumination physics continue to apply While the water looks partially strange, where on this page can we see it going up? Where the hell did that come from? Edit: Strong reminders of Annie's behaviour in this page. Kat didn't like it much. Annie does not even need to possess a particular meanness to have such a thought. Be honest, how many of you here have never entertained a similar thought towards a person who acted nasty to you? Seriously, if I were (a fifteen-year-old) Annie, I would be hella mad at Paz. That girl comes around, takes a LOT of her precious time with her best friend away, and now she starts to act like she owns Kat, threatening Annie because of a situation that is not her fault. I can perfectly understand if Annie thinks about snapping her like a twig. Which she would be totally be able to, by the way. Without etheric powers, Annie still knows martial arts. With etheric powers, I still find it highly doubtful Paz could convince Lindsey to attack a student of the Court. And (assuming she learned how do it without a blinker stone) since Annie can project her etheric self and use her powers remotely, she could roast Paz to a delicious golden brown (or, for added cruelty, choke her with invisible hands) without even needing to be physically present. If she cannot do that yet without a blinker stone...she is still pretty fast with that fire. And I wonder if even Lindsey could touch Annie if she goes into full elemental mode. Of course, of course, there are still many variables to predict the outcome of the Saturday Fight Night, but going by what we have seen... I feel safe saying that Annie could defeat the majority of the other characters if she really wanted to, and put a bit of planning to it.
