I think this is the first natural, non-possessive smile we've seen out of Court!Annie.
Kat continues to be the best. Please be ok.

Did she also explain transformations to Annie? Did she show her only the manga, or also the anime? Or perhaps the abridged version? Also, is that an "english" print manga, since it reads left to right? I'd expect Kat to go OG right to left.

Bonding over Kat isn't a bad idea, she's important to both of them. Here's hoping they don't start competing over her. Did she also explain transformations to Annie? Even more importantly, did Kat explain fusions? That could potentially solve a lot of problems.

Coloration glitch in panel 4? If I'm looking at the same thing you are, Courtnie's beam, I think yes. The outlines should be orange for consistency, not black. The internal grading I can live without since she's finishing up and powering down.

I wonder what the fire flakes getting out of Courtnie's hair mean.
Anyway, she started explaining her cool fire trick - that she got from Kat - without being asked to. Sounds like she actually trusts the other Annie and doesn't dislike her that much to me.

The internal grading I can live without since she's finishing up and powering down. I don't think she's firing the beam at that point; her posture is wrong and the lines are divergent. I think it's just the outline of a root and the part that is slightly-darker-skin-colour should be slightly-darker-brown.

Will attach fast edit. [edit] Before I peace out I should explain that I think she's finishing the downward-slanting left-to-right cut and her wrist is bent so that the beam is level with the bottom of the cut.[/edit] Attachments:

Actually, we've already been introduced to fusion technique before, but I don't think anyone is willing to eat another person whole the way Loup came into being...

If they can get blinker stones maybe a synchronized dance could work. Or better yet DBZ "five-way fusion." Sure, getting Zeta to go along with it will be a challenge even with Gamma's help but if they can form Georantzimarlonitty I think "Loup" might be in trouble.

A new power has been explained. Will Frannie and Courtnie learn to get along? Who are these mysterious enemies Loup spoke of? And do Gohan and Krillin stand a chance? Find out next time on Gunnerkrigg C! Bonding over Kat isn't a bad idea, she's important to both of them. I'm wondering if they'll start bonding over how weird Paz has been acting. Courtnie: "Oh my gods! You too! What is up with her." Frannie: "Hmm." Courtnie: "Hmm." Both: "We should stalk her." *eyes narrow*

Bonus comic: Kat asking Jones to cosplay as Android 18. I'm really glad to see the Annies not sniping at each other. Maybe the two of them can combine their fire to create a fire...?spirit...?bomb.

Huh yeah know, their relationship seems to remind me of Frieza and Cooler.
So you think they'll copy the Kienzan? That'd both be cool and it'd be effective against targets at distance.

Per imaginaryfriendLook at the last panel, the branches are similar without the dark inking. I think what we're looking at is just things that are in the back and out of immediate focus.

Sounds like she actually trusts the other Annie and doesn't dislike her that much to me. I seem to remember seeing similar fire fragments come off of Annie (or Frannie) before - they were more rounded embers though, rather than these angular fire-shards. My take is that she trusts Frannie (as being real, not a Forest spy, and not physically dangerous to her), but feels threatened by her emotionally (that she's potentially disruptive to her relationships with Kat and her father). Frannie has also been relatively pleasant/supportive to her just recently, asking if she's ok after the fall, and now admiring her new fire-craft and wanting to learn about it. So maybe the ice is breaking a bit....

When I enlarged the image it's clear there's a deliberate yellow color shift happening inside the lines (as a beam should have) and Courtnie's got the fire dandruff going. Her wrist could be bent at a funny angle but we've seen that before.

I know I made a Dragon Ball joke only HOURS AGO, but I didn't expect to see one in-universe! I feel like I predicted this, somehow. Interesting to note that the glowing jelly-water has now disappeared from both Annies upon activation of their fire-powers. Maybe the jelly-water was just normal water after all, and it simply evaporated. Or maybe it was a creepy etheric substance, and we'll see the implications of its disappearance later...

So I suppose this page is canon now. It's always fun to see "the real world" intrude into Gunnerkrigg. They're not just living in a bubble completely beyond the Muggles.
