So I was watching an Idea Channel video last night about "technical memes"--those YouTube videos like "The Bee Movie But Every Time They Say Bee It Gets Faster," or "Finding Nemo But Without Water." Idea Channel, as is their wont, analyzed this odd cultural phenomenon in some interesting ways. One point I thought they missed: part of the raison d’être of technical memes is to point out how frequent something is in their source material. The word "bee" in Bee Movie, for instance.
Now, I have zero experience with video editing, so I thought I'd try this idea on Gunnerkrigg Court. But Gunnerkrigg Court without what? There are too many pages without Annie, or even without Annie and Kat. I decided to extend it to all female characters. The results are, in my opinion, very interesting.
Ground rules:

There are too many pages without Annie, or even without Annie and Kat. I decided to extend it to all female characters. The results are, in my opinion, very interesting.
Ground rules:
- To be included, a page must not show a female character, mention a female character, or be narrated/written by a female character.
- If it's not clear whether someone is female (e.g. robots, monsters, or ambiguous background silhouettes), the page is allowed.
- The author comments below the page don't count.

Some analysis:
The list comes to 144 pages out of the comic's current total of 2107, or less than 7%. Of the 144:
The main point of this exercise, for me, was "Look how central the female characters are to this story." Which seems obvious, since it's all about Annie and Kat. But it's more than just the main characters. Remove Annie and Kat, and you'll still have extensive sections that follow Zimmy and Gamma, Jones, Surma, even Paz. (And Tea, in the bonus and break pages.) It's the quantity (and quality!) of female supporting characters that makes Gunnerkrigg Court special. There's something left if they're removed, but it becomes disjointed, even nonsensical. You see Coyote's abusive relationship with Ysengrin, hints of what's going on with the robots and shadow men, how Mort became a ghost, and some random stuff about pigeons. But there isn't really a story anymore. You've removed the water from Finding Nemo.
Now, in the true tradition of technical memes, it's time for you all to pile on with the hairsplitting comments about how I left out some qualifying pages or included some that I shouldn't have.

- 38 are chapter title pages
- 13 are bonus pages (counting Coyote's "Hehe!" in "The Breakout" as a bonus page)
- 24 are break pages (23 of which are about City Face)
- which leaves 69 (less than half) that are "regular" comic pages
