Why do I feel that Mr. Smith is about to find himself being dangled upside down like a wayward niffler? No reason at all, but James gives the air of not being very passive about his aggressiveness.

Court!Annie: "And he sent YOU to get them for him."
Snappy comeback Forest!Annie will think of tomorrow morning: "Yes and he doesn't care what YOU do at all."

Wild speculation: The items were part of a fusion ritual that will turn Annie into a full fire elemental (that way she can keep the memories of the Court Annie and not have to lose another year). Just according to Coyote's keikaku.

The way the YOU is formed leads me to think that they still think of Forest-Annie as being a Loup creation meant to trick them. Which is a reasonable assumption in their situation.

Wonder if Smithy's power would be useful for clearing up this confusion with the Annies. Probably won't be that easy. They aren't exactly causing much "disorder" by just being there.

If Court!Annie is an impostor, I hope Forest!Annie realises that Loup will probably get to hear everything that is said, let's hope Forest!Annie won't mention the tooth.

Kind of wondering if snapping the goose bone (like two people might do for good luck), would do anything fun.

Kind of wondering if snapping the goose bone (like two people might do for good luck), would do anything fun. We know the water contains some of Coyote's memories, and will probably restore him... I think both Annies will snap the bone and either one will disappear, or they will merge into one...

Well if this is a simulation it's gonna end in the next page. Loup now know everything he needs to know about those gifts and that means only who have them. There's no point in getting them in the simulation so if this storyline keeps going next week the simulation theory will fall apart

And which raises again the question of why Loup would entrust that demand to someone who, because of an earlier action of his, a lot of the Court will view with such suspicion. (I still like the idea that it's a sign of his instability - that he doesn't realize the long-term consequences of his trickery. And he sent the short-haired Annie back to the Court well before telling the long-haired Annie that he wanted the bone and water; maybe he only realized that he needed those objects back after he did that.)

It's been six months. Annie's hair being longer shows her body still felt the time, using energy and nutrients to do what it needs to do. Will someone get this poor girl a flippin' sandwich?

I remember Coyote giving Annie the tooth, and I also remember when he told the story about being a dead goose for a while... But I can't seem to recall Parley and Andrew getting the water and bone, despite having re-read the whole comic about a year ago
Anyone has a link to that page/chapter?

The first panel almost feels like battle lines: They're all lined up against Forest!Annie, except for Jones who's.. Neutrally supporting her, partly because of her own nature and recent re-entry (heh) into the picture means she doesn't have 6 months of preconceptions.

The first thing he demanded was that Annie stay with him. It's possible he made up a new plan involving the Bone and Water only after she rejected his "generous offer".

This scene--and the whole chapter--has been told from Forest!Annie's perspective. It's hard to do, but try reading it from Court!Annie's perspective. You see a shaggy-haired version of yourself (who you're pretty sure is some kind of trick from a Forest that's been quite hostile over the past few months) telling a far-fetched story (which contradicts your own lived experience) to some of your closest friends and family... and everyone just believes her and starts acting on what she says. Including Eglamore, who seemed just a couple of minutes ago to share your suspicions. I'd be pretty upset, myself.

Some of the most well-written stories are those where you can switch to the POV of the antagonist and have all their actions make complete sense, potentially to the point that it makes you despise the protagonist.

As far as we know, the next chapter could very well be these events, told from Court!Annie's POV. Still waiting for the Renard test, though.

He doesn't have to appear on panel but I'd expect Forest!Annie to at least ask about him. "How's Renard?"/"Is Renard okay?" or whatever.
Also Loup taking back gifts at this time of year. He is an evil Santa.

I do suspect that Loup will end up attacking the Court no matter what they do; all they can hope for is a temporary cease-fire. He pointed out, last chapter, that the Court's experiments are having a detrimental effect on the Forest - which means that, from his perspective (and that of the forest-folk) they *have* to destroy the Court. It's the only way, in their eyes, that they can be safe. (Short of the Court agreeing to permanently end their experiments - which I can't imagine its leadership doing. And even if the Court did promise, Loup and the others would probably suspect it to be a lie - not surprising, given the Court's track record - and decide that they'd have to wipe the Court out, just to make certain.)

I both can't wait and dread when the Renard test happens. If he treats Court!Annie as the real one, then I just see that as being super painful.

Speaking of tomorrow morning, it's gonna get real awkward when it occurs to both of them that they only have one Anniesworth of belongings. Yes, with the probable exception of the outfit and shoes Forest!Annie is now wearing.* If Court!Annie is living with Anthony then Forest!Annie can occupy the same room as before (not that there's any shortage of space now) unless the Court decides the sensible thing is to lock them both up until the situation gets resolved. But probably the bigger issue is that there's only one Kat and one Anthony. *If Court!Annie's matching outfit mysteriously disappeared recently then that might be evidence that Forest!Annie was newly created but I don't expect that to happen.

On a more mundane note, I wonder where Forest!Annie will live? With Court!Annie and Tony? Will the Annies be roomies? That could be awkward.... Or with Kat? Jones? Assuming it is with Tony, they might have to buy a whole new wardrobe for Forest!Annie since Court!Annie has outgrown all those things...

Assuming it is with Tony, they might have to buy a whole new wardrobe for Forest!Annie since Court!Annie has outgrown all those things... I doubt it will come to that... My theory is, Forest!Annie will fail some test and look as fake, and she will be locked away. She will escape with the help of either the Afterlife Guides or the Realm of the Dead (I'm imagining Forest!Annie standing in front of the door of her cell and chanting "I'm a ghooooost" to access the RotD...). Forest!Annie will try to stop Loup on her own and fail, Loup will attack and retrieve the items on his own, resetting himself back into Coyote when he absorbs the water... Court!Annie will be revealed to be either a very good fake and attack the Court, or to be real too, and re-merge with Forest!Annie... Another option is for Forest!Annie to "evolve" into something else and leave the Court...(will the Court even survive?)

I think those questions should wait until when they no longer have a mad wolf trickster-god threatening the Court. If Loup destroys the place, it obviously won't matter what they're going to wear.

I'm just wondering when they're going to take Forest Annie to get something to eat..! Girl, if I hadn't eaten in six months, I'd be demanding to be fed chocolate cake and pot pie.
