Maybe but Court!Annie seems to have the inside track in public opinion. Also: Being grabbed by Jones for examination, she who can exert large amounts of force? Yikes.

Did court!Annie know that Jones was in the sky? Looks like no...but pay attention to stuff like that in case she slips up about something.

If someone identical to you shows up claiming to be you, I think most people would be more trusting of the one they have been living around and being friends/family/collegues with for the last 6 months than the one who just appeared out of a region you are technically at war with. The only reason they are "trusting" her at all is because the two Annie's can see each other's ether and see that they are real-enough.

It's understandable to be suspicious of any new life form introduced into your environment, let alone one that appears/claims to be the real version of a friend or family member. That said, if the friend/family member went to visit a hostile country on a diplomatic mission during a very chaotic period of time I would be going over every interaction I had with that person since their return, looking for anything I might have missed. And I'd be scrutinizing the new arrival closely as well.

How does being grabbed by Jones feel: Over the years she has learned not to break people. Too much . Actually, although unbreakable, she can be quite soft (if she wants to?).

she can be quite soft (if she wants to?). OOOR Eggers had read Twilight saga once too many and now likes the marble-like feel to the touch.

The need to suppress sudden movements may explain some of her mannerisms. Also: That reminds me, newer forum-members may enjoy a fan comic I did long ago. It is about a simpler time, but also a time when Jones hadn't yet learned how to grab things gently to examine them. First page is here.

Did court!Annie know that Jones was in the sky? I think that the "I wondered what happened to her" meant "I wondered what happened to her after she got thrown into the sky", rather than an implication that the short-haired version of Annie didn't know about Jones being thrown into the sky. (The line could probably have been rephrased in a less ambiguous manner, but remember that Tom's writing this on his own without editors or beta-readers who could have pointed out how that line might be misinterpreted.)

But all that Annie saw was Jones being thrown into the sky. It was only the readers who saw the "Jones in space" panels.

Well, at least Jones will settle this and announce that Forest Annie is telling the truth. Also, a reminder of Jones having met all.kind of interesting people, being in interesting places, and that someone must do More "Jones Adventures in time" fanatics! Ps: now I understand the concern and agitation of Headmaster... www.gunnerkrigg.com/?p=286

If Jones ever says she hasn't seen anything like this before, you know s*** just got real. She's said as much once before, but we didn't know the weight behind her statement at the time.

Jones just broke first!Annie's neck in the last but one panel. That solves the problem.

Hopefully Jones is around a bunch for this chapter. Her perspective seems useful.

I havent kept up with everything said in all the threads so far, but has anyone mentioned that court Annie has make-up on? Would Tony really have changed his mind in the 6 months or however long? Would Annie even feel the need to wear it again, having maybe broken free of the mask?

I havent kept up with everything said in all the threads so far, but has anyone mentioned that court Annie has make-up on? Would Tony really have changed his mind in the 6 months or however long? Would Annie even feel the need to wear it again, having maybe broken free of the mask? It's been mentioned, but I haven't seen any guesses about why it might have happened. So here goes...
I think cAnnie has behaved much as originalAnnie did when Tony first returned -- i.e. has tried hard to please him and live up to his expectations. We've already seen that pay off for her, as when Tony returned Rey to her when she asked. So I imagine that at some point she did the same thing about wearing makeup, and he agreed.
Of course, that's all just speculation. There could have been other factors. As others have mentioned, her behavior may have seemed a little "off" to Tony and Kat, and they may have been doing little things to investigate. Allowing makeup could have been one of those things.

And then it all just clicked when another Annie was allowed by the Sprang Bubble™ and they're kinda improvising right now until they have a solo moment to discuss and throw their respectives "I knew it!" In fact we don't even know if Courtmony was allowed by the bubble to begin with, there could have been a situation in which Kat had to override a robot with a DIY headcrab to allow her in and this technology was promptly confiscated by the Court to free some personel budget, I mean, slave bots, I mean, "friendly" robots PS: Mr. Siddell is developing an atmosphere to make a robot uprising without the Terminator vibes
