D'aww, they're so cute! I didn't realize Tom was a DBZ fan. My little sister and I used to watch it every day when it was showing in Mexico. I loved the Buu saga, but my favorite was the Great Saiyaman saga Gohan is such a cutie.

I assume this is some sort of nerd anime thing. They're adorable regardless of whether I get who they're supposed to be.

Guess Tom is a Vegeta fan specifically?! My little sister was also a Vegeta fan; our favorite was pretending to 'fuse', I'd be Goku. Out of the cast I liked Android 18 best (and then later Videl when she cut her hair, and Pan in GT). Clearly I was a fan of girl power. But I also had a tiny crush on older Gohan and Trunks Though I never watched the original original DragonBall, maybe that would have made me also be a big fan of Bulma.

I'm just surprised that it's in color. I guess there's not much involved drawing to do here, so it's not as time-consuming as a regular page would be.

follow-up question: what does the scouter say about their cuteness level

follow-up question: what does the scouter say about their cuteness level It's over 113.
(I know that's only 1/90 of the scouter's range, but it was the only number connected to GKC that came to my mind.)

(Looking at the next page with Jones, is Tea's shirt supposed to be red in this one as well?)

If you were born in late 80s/early 90s and avoided Dragonball Z, Sailor Moon, and/or Pokemon, then you're one of the lucky rare ones.

Oh, haha, I didn’t avoid Pokemon. I have extremely vivid memories of trading cards under the stairs on the playground all day every day and watching the show as well. The other two though? Maybe it has something to do with growing up in a rural area. Never was exposed to either of those that you mentioned, or knew anybody who was. Never saw ‘em airing on TV either. If there were books about them, they weren’t in the library. Anime wasn’t like... a big thing at all in our school culture? Barely had a presence. I’m trying to remember seeing any anime airing on TV or hearing other people discuss it in grade/high school and I’ve really got nothing (other than Pokemon of course, which seemed to die out as soon as people reached puberty). Maybe it’s a regional thing or a rural thing or maybe I just wasn’t paying attention. Like, as a kid I was aware it existed, but it was just this baffling geeky thing that existed totally separate of my sphere. Still kind of is.

I crushed on Trunks when I saw him after he and Vegeta came out of the time chamber and he lost the silly bowl cut. I have to say I never did understand VegetaXBulma, though.
