This page seems to suggest that Ysengrin will make a comeback. I hope so. I don't like Loup. He's worse than both Ysengrin and Coyote, he's absolutely freaking exhausting, and I'm already tired of this jerk. Although if he actually puts Tony in prison like was shown a few pages back, I will immediately take all this back. Also, I don't really get why Loup would love Annie so much. I get that Ysengrin loved her and almost thought of her as a daughter, but Coyote does not seem like the kind of guy who loves people. Uses them like playthings until he gets tired of them, maybe. But loves them? I still think Loup's motives for wanting to keep Annie prisoner are not exactly what he's saying up front. Or it's possible he's just too deranged or arrogant to suspect anything will come of it.

Coyote says she makes him happy and therefore cares for her happiness. It's possible Loup doesn't know why he loves Annie, they are just residual feelings from the other two and as someone (I'm sorry I don't remember who)** pointed out, he may be desperately seeking an anchor point and Annie is the common denominator between them.

Loup on the upper right really reminds me of TROGDOR! Bad omen? Burninating the court!

Yellow fire is hotter than red fire, right? Annie's hair is glowing yellow at the tips, something it didn't used to do. Maybe all she's gone through since she cut out her elemental side has made her come back stronger. By the end of the comic I'd love to see Azula style blue!fire Annie. That would be rad.

As long as he's around, the focus of the comic would have to be on the threat he poses, and all the other threads would be suspended. I suspect (and hope) that by the end of the chapter, Annie will have freed Ysengrin from this degenerate parody of himself and Coyote combined. And getting him to resurface seems like a good first step in bringing this about (truer to the tone of the comic and of Annie, I'd say, than such suggested methods as having Reynardine possess him or running him through with Coyote's tooth).

The "trickster" got tricked - apparently, at least. Sure, Loup can be a child in terms of experience - and a bratty one at that - and be more volatile than both of his sources, but the Potara fusion is in possession of both Coyote and Ysengrin's memories, so he must not be understimated at all. Maybe he was careless and let that one "is" slid, or maybe it was a reflection of the contradictory and still in the oven nature of his amalgam. Either way, Annie must remain cautious and don't let her guard down at any moment.

Would any passcode or recognition phrase be of use, if the personality is within another?

Talking to Ysengrin is gonna be a depressing bit. Either he is a shell of some sort, which would suck to see be it in depression or futile fighting or he is super cool with what Loup is doing which would kill Annie. Not sure which would be sadder to read.

Last time Ysengrin lashed out it sounded to me like he was regretful, in a "I can't believe I did that" sort of way, which I interpreted as having the follow up phrase "I should know better, think if Antimony had gotten hurt." I say this because this... creature... is the result of Ysengrin recently lashing out against someone, and he interprets his will to do so as "a creature with which [he] must fight". Had it not been deicide he might've actually have had some time for reflection over his actions afterwards, but apparently killing Coyote meant absorbing Coyote. I therefore think the Ysengrin we'll see feels regret. I further speculate that this Loup persona is him trying to reconcile suddenly having the memories, wisdom, strength and godhood of Coyote with him feeling guilt for having lashed out and killed Coyote that he on some level loves. If you gain all of a god's memories, and the god is close to omniscient, you are suddenly operating on a whole other level in terms of what you're capable of and what you consider important, and this in combination with the aforementioned guilt and Ysengrin's still remaining personality helps explain why he seems so unhinged. It wouldn't surprise me if the act he's putting up is him trying to convince both Annie and himself of "No, no! I'm still totally in control of this situation! Anything else is a lie!"

Fusion of a trickster god and the (historically) stereotypical, brutish, slightly stupid, victim of a trickster. Even if he weren't one of her pseudo daddies and best friends, asking for Ysengrin is her best choice.

It is possible that for even Loup this is part of the fun... A firehead girl who stands her ground and fights back is much more entertaining than cowering minions. The reaction to the court/city/"humans" putting up shield included a "heh" and a smile. It was stated before that coyote was bored with all his power. Playing chess against someone who you can beat very quickly is boring.
Loup may actually hope that Annie can "outplay" him.
