Brings "Antimony, my love!" to a whole new uncomfortable level.

So Coyote knew what would happen when he passed on his strength. Looks like the joke might be on Ysengrin, again.
I wonder if what happened to him was something Coyote set up in advance, or whether it relates to 'ownership' i.e. he was given the strength, but took the rest that wasn't his. Like Annie's contract over Rey, or the arrow.
The body-snatching powers Rey still has might actually be what Loup wants.

Not sure about the dialogue in the rightmost bubble of the second panel. I think it probably should read, "And Coyote knew this! For you see, Coyote had been stealing Ysengrin's thoughts for many years" or "And Coyote knew this! Because Coyote had been stealing Ysengrin's thoughts for many years!"

But what could he gain from becoming Loup that he couldn't as himself?

So it still is Coyote playing everyone... He KNEW what would happen if he gave Y's his strength: he'd "pokevolve" into a next power level, that might be strong enough to take on the Court. He probably also knew he'd "die" because of this. But even now, Loup is not complete. He's still missing the body snatching power that was imbued into Reynardine.
On the other hand, I still wouldn't be surprised if at some point, Loup would shake himself off like a wet dog and we'd suddenly see Ysengrin being plopped out of Coyote's fur. DBZ Fusion timelimit exceeded...

The capacity to attack the people of the Court directly, seeing as he promised he wouldn't when he was Coyote. Edit: So it still is Coyote playing everyone... He KNEW what would happen if he gave Y's his strength: he'd "pokevolve" into a next power level, that might be strong enough to take on the Court. Not sure whether that's exactly what he's done; Loup could be less straight-up powerful than Coyote was but he's not bound by his promises either, see above.

Ys referred to himself as "a useless wolf" on the previous page. Ysengrin can escape from being himself as Loup.

And global threat confirmed. This has Weirdmaggeddon vibes all over it.
Seeing as Loup has access to Coyote’s memories and knowledge, the chances of him being stopped by the tooth are quickly decreasing...

They made him the butt of every joke in all the stories he's in. (Haven't read Coyote side-comic yet, so I don't know if its covered in there).

Dang, Annie. Another fine father figure, ruined. (Slinks off to watch "Mowgli" with Rey and a tub of ice cream.)

But why would he want that? Coyote never yearned for destruction. He yearns for fun. Mostly because it's the only thing I can think of that's been explicitly stated he can't do due to making a promise. It is perfectly in character for him to do it for laughs just to see what happens and trust in his ability to always come back somehow, but this far into the story, I just don't see it. Was there ever any doubt? Well, not anymore. There was some conjecture about what Ys was going to do before the chowdown happened, though.

Which raises the question of why Coyote made that promise to begin with. (Unless he discovered something about the Court after making his promise which changed his mind about it.)
And the hopes of settling this with diplomacy are dwindling all the more. I fear that the only way to resolve this conflict now may be violence - as in killing Loup somehow. (Though I suspect that Annie will still be looking desperately for another way.)

I might add that if Coyote indeed knew that giving his strength to Ysengrin would produce these results, and did it anyway, that argues all the more that bringing him back from the dead (even if it might be necessary from a "Chekhov's Gun" perspective with all those pieces of himself he gave out) sounds like a bad idea - it might stop Loup, but then you'd be stuck once again with the trickster who deliberately created Loup.

Ysengrin hated lounging? His loathing for Leisure Suit Larry knew no bounds. Clearly, he was a barefaced King's Quest lad.

But, possibly, that trickster would be free of Ysengrin. Unless it meant that Coyote would no longer have a pawn or instrument to use for this kind of scheme, I don't think it would make that much difference.

It's comic 2017! What are the forum's plans for when the comic hits our current calendar year? I dunno! But I do think it would be cool to have some kind of global fan meet-up when/if the comic ends. Maybe in the meantime we can have a Dischord party? (Is that where people hang out now? I'm very out of touch).

The thing maybe being a little overlooked here by "both sides" of Loup's personality is that Coyote stealing Ys memories constantly probably prevented him from getting over his own shit in any kind of a healthy way. Now I feel silly for ever believing that this WASN'T all just Coyote's plan. He practically brought Ys directly down this path from the start.

Yeah, he went from "OH SHIT I ALMOST KILLED ANNIE WTF AM I DOING" to "I am the perfect fatherly figure and Annie loves me" in a snack PS: Holy shit, what if the Coyote in Loup is eating up his memories and that's why he called Annie "my love"? At the beginning he was whole but then Coyote started eating him up and molding his personality from the inside (and this is why the first reaction was rage and demonstration of power and later was "heh" and scheming)

Clayface, who had no qualms about absorbing his "daughter" Annie because her experiences were essentially a loan from him, the original. Super nice times had by all.

The way he ate Ysengrin's memories was probably tantamount to cooking a pot of rice: lift the lid to keep tabs on the progression; stir/manipulate as needed for desired end result.

Follow-up thought to my question of why, if Coyote does indeed want to shut down the Court, he gave his promise to leave it alone. He might have done that because of his delight in being a trickster. If he hadn't given his word, destroying it would be so easy it wouldn't be an interesting challenge. If he gives his promise to leave it in peace, that means he can put all his cunning and sneakiness into finding a loophole, displaying his ingenuity as a trickster.
