... Annie don't. Just don't. Stop thinking about it. [Annie will try to go to the forest and "fix" things. Again]

Sorry, that guilt has already crystallised. She won't be content until she tries to help.
Edit: Also, they're sure getting plenty of mileage out of that "sugar cube drive."

The real question is whether she will be able to pass it in the other direction. Haha, could ask Jenny to do something with the drone. Assuming she can be found in this mess. It's a shame she isn't around, seeing how there's such a cool subject for study and she brings to the table a view between Kat's and Annie's.

I am of course incredibly slow, but I now realise this means the court robots are able to tap into the ether in order to generate the shield. Was that ability programmed by Diego and then copied by the later generations, or did the later generations figure that out by themselves?

Seeing Arthur and Annie side-by-side, it looks like their mimicking each other. Both fixating on something in the sky, beyond their control.

Last Panel, Kat: Now we need a living test subject. Seriously curious what would happen if Annie would try going through it in the ether o: I wonder how far she can stretch her ether self. In theory she should be able to go as far as she wants. If she were to try to project into the forest, I wonder if she could be trapped outside the shield. Has anyone tried scientific test number 1 on the shield yet?

... Annie don't. Just don't. Stop thinking about it. [Annie will try to go to the forest and "fix" things. Again] Someone certainly needs to go to the forest (whether Annie or someone else). We don't know how long the robots can keep that force field going or how long before Ysengrin figures out a way of countering it or getting around it. It's a good short-term solution, but it doesn't solve the big problem: Ysengrin's hostility. It's time for some negotiations - proper negotiations, this time (now, while Coyote's out of the picture and can't derail the talks). Something that can get to the root of the conflict and resolve it.

Wait, magic presence was probably why Annie was needed to launch it. Then again, if robots decide it, maybe the best way to pass it is wearing paper antennae. Here's a thought: What does Jones count as? A good-sized rock. Even if not, it may end up as a direct "barrier vs. Jones" contest. I'd bet on Jones in this, and probably anyone who have seen her in action would expect the same. And they don't want to shut it down - at least, not yet.

Todd Someone's going to need to answer that signal (whether Annie or somebody else). The robot force field is keeping out Ysengrin for now, but how long will it last? How long until Ysengrin figures out a way of getting past it? These defense measures (whether Jeanne or the robot force field) may hold the Wood back for a while, but they don't solve the core problem: many of Gilltie's inhabitants are angry at the Court about something, and want to attack it. The defences may keep them out for a while, but Ysengrin and the others go on hating them and attacking them. It's time (maybe past time) for some proper diplomacy, to get to the bottom of their grievances and do something about that. 18 May 2018 | 5:11 PM
